FESTIVALBAR 2026: The new BITTERBAR is a sweet spot for festival visitors from all over the world, local design, and the regional aperitif culture.

The BITTERBAR on Margaretenplatz is a new aperitif bar that focuses on local networks. Its collaboration with Austrian designers such as Thomas Waidhofer and Klemens Schillinger defines the venue’s spatial identity. This philosophy extends to the selection of the drink menu: The bar breaks away from the established structures of the beverage industry and instead puts Viennese vermouth and products from regional partners front and center. As the official festival bar of the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK, the BITTERBAR thus offers a space where local design and independent beverage culture come together.

Some Quetschis are living permanently inside @bitt3rbar for a while now — and for @viennadesignweek , I’m taking my work outside for the first time.

My first public outdoor installation is now up right in front of the bar. Seeing a piece of mine enter public space in this way feels like a very exciting new step, and I’m so happy to share it with you.

If you’re around during Design Week, come by, have a drink, and see it in person.
