Thrilled to be included in this @phaidonpress publication ‘Great Women Photographers’, launched a couple of days ago in London. So sad I couldn’t be there. So many friends and heroes in this book. Can’t wait to get my hands on a copy. Many thanks to Charmaine Toh senior curator at Tate, one of the advisors of this book, and Katey Acquaro director at Silverlens New York. Please go to phaidon.com for more details.

(Actually, what warms my heart, really, with all my recent collaborative weaving / textile work, is not being forgotten as a photo-media based artist.) by @yeeilann

Our Tanjung Aru Beach people standing around in the sunset taking selfies always fascinates me so much. Took old friend Gill Ducker there today. We met on Anna & The King art dept in 2000. That’s 26 years ago! Very good to see her again.

(Have y’all seen the new renovations at KGC?!? What u think? I think I like it. Was overwhelmed by it and forgot to take photos, but it feels appropriate somehow. Just no longer the KGC of my childhood.) by @yeeilann

Amir Muhammad sent me these, I only ever art directed one Yasmin Ahmad TVC, yes for a Petronas something in 1997 I think (I quit TVCs after 1997, or maybe this is mid 2000s? I did a smattering of TVCs then? Mainly for Yuhang. Can’t remember.) I remember thinking I didn’t do a good job on this job. That’s Hairul Askor aka “O” @o_askor wearing the cap. We started working at Saw Teong Hin and James Ashburn’s Renaissance Films at the same time in 1994 and tag-teamed for many years. Thanks @amirmupalsu for these, I don’t have many production crew pix. by @yeeilann

It’s been a tough year, I miss our Papa. It’s been so good to have lots of family around these past few weeks on the first anniversary of his passing, especially I-Nah home, and Oscar, and I-Ling, back from Penang. Mum is adjusting. I know she loves having everyone home. I’ve struggled to work this past year. I’m not dealing with this ache. Just about all artists I know fill their Insta with just art and their art life. But my family and my life life inform everything I do, including art. So please excuse the personal posts. I haven’t felt like posting art art. The greatest gift my parents gave me is to know exactly where home is. And I just want to swim in homeness. I-Nah, my Nahvut, my sister, is flying back to Australia tonight. Next week I need to pull my act together and get on with things. I miss my Papa. by @yeeilann

Rest in peace Tan Sri L. Krishnan, what a life you had, what a hero. Kotohuadan. Thank you also Susan Bansin for highlighting in your FB post specifically about the partnership and friendship between Tan Sri L. Krishnan and Tan Sri Harris Salleh (Chief Minister Sabah from 1976 - 1985). I think we should claim the story of how Sabah contributed to the development of the Malaysia film industry through Borneo Film Organisation (BFO) and Gaya Film Lab and how Sabah once owned every Cathay Cinema in Malaysia, an example of Tan Sri Harris Salleh’s visionary leadership. I remember Gaya Lab well, all 35mm film in Malaysia was processed there. I think Sabah needs to claim our bits and pieces of lost histories that contributed to the building of this nation. by @yeeilann

Was looking for something else and found these: Sorry George! 1987 Year 11 formal with childhood bestie Toby Wong (Penny’s brother) and bestie for life Georgina H. Have no memory of that other guy, sorry. I don’t need AI for taffeta and big hair 80s horror. Please don’t use AI for frivolity, although fun, it has real climate consequences. Next pic first year art school Underdale Campus UniSA 1989 and following pic at one of our first group student exhibitions 1991 I think. Was so into cat eyes those days. I loved hot pink. Still do. by @yeeilann

Very impressive school orchestra, proud Aunty here! Go Anna!!!!! French horns FTW!!! School concert night tonight.

(Tshung Tsin Wind Symphony (TTWS) just won a Gold award and crowned Division 2A (Junior College/High School Division) champion at the 10th Singapore International Band Festival (SIBF) 2026 back in July. Not bad for a school orchestra from Sabah!) by @yeeilann
