Happy birthday to @gcunning_gram
Our paths came together for a reason and though the way isn’t always clear, your hope and positivity light the next steps… even when you refuse to bring a headlamp ;)

A pretty good argument for spending the weekend in Tahoe…

From bike demos & skills clinics to iconic rides, the Tahoe Mountain Bike Festival is a celebration of everything that makes riding in Tahoe so special.

Our friends @flylowgear know a thing or two about these trails and this community. Catch them at Sunday’s Tahoe Trail Jam, June 21st, for swag giveaways, trail talks and gear that’s been tested right here in our backyard.

Independent. Home Grown. Mountain Raised.

More event details & registration at the link in bio.

There’s no easy way for us to share this news and simply because it is the most efficient and might save us from more awkward conversations, I’m going to put it here.

Almost two months ago Greg and I went to the ER, I hadn’t felt movement in a couple days. The baby had been fairly active lately and I was so proud. I sensed something had changed. We couldn’t find a heartbeat on ultrasound and were advised to induce labor to safely end the pregnancy. Later we learned issues with the placenta and umbilical cord beyond our control had inhibited blood flow to the baby. I was ~24 weeks along.

We had a mostly peaceful delivery, worlds away from how I dreamt of giving birth. Cords drugs pain apprehension relief tears. The nurse who was an actual angel guiding us. We are so grateful for her. We held our little boy, tiny but fully formed, and mused that he was conceived amongst stars and departed under a full moon. Our celestial boy, not meant for this world.

No amount of time holding him was enough. We are still saying good bye, with just a handful of ashes that will never be sufficient. Greg and I are so grateful for the memories we have from our short time as a family.

I wish there were some happy resolution, and I know there never will be. All I can say is now I know the darkness of loss and maybe that makes me more human. Becoming a parent with no baby to nurse, hold, love. Dreaming of caring for a newborn as a beautiful distraction from how fucked your body is. I still feel phantom kicks in my belly that make me think, wait is he still in there?

And the other side, the thinking side. Guilt, failure, incompetence, am I being dramatic? Did that really happen? Did I actually kind of deserve this? Waking up every day and remembering. Trying to say the right things to others, Greg and myself. Searching for something, a new pull or pole that isn’t there.

I know the answers to those questions. I know it will get better, and it has. I wish I could fast forward and I also really don’t want to forget. We know the only thing we can do is keep going, and for all my shortcomings, that’s one thing I think I am capable of.

This kid has no idea what they’re in for. And probably, neither do we.

Beyond grateful to sneak in this mini trip to a classic zone. It was obscenely scenic, so apologies for all the photos. Conditions were great on all aspects when we needed them to be. From J7 and right to our front door made it extra sweet. Felt just like spring, until the sun set at 5 and we skinned back to our camp under a new moon 🌑

Can’t say enough about Greg really making this happen. Carrying all the group gear, setting all the bootpack, and feeding me all the snacks so that I can be out in the mountains and feel like myself again. Hyped for what’s yet to come 💛 by @yennakane

Some shots of the start to ski season. Things are looking a little different this year! New home base, new dreams to chase. Still seeking good snow, skiing bad snow plenty and making memories with my people. Greg and I are so grateful and ecstatic to greet the adventures and challenges that lie ahead 💛

This might be the most ridiculously naive thing I ever say, but I had no idea how much pregnancy would affect me and the way I use my body. I’m looking to all the moms out there for inspiration and hope that while things are changing, it doesn’t necessarily mean for the worse. I’m counting on that mom superpower to kick in so that my biggest achievements are to come, whatever they may look like.

Baby coming at you late May! Much love y’all 🙏 by @yennakane
