This Sunday, I ran my very first half marathon (13.1 miles), and I am so grateful I did. 🏅✨

From starting my training journey in January to spraining my ankle just two weeks before race day 😭🫠, the range of emotions I’ve experienced has been a whirlwind.

Crossing that finish line reminded me just how capable we are as humans when we commit to ourselves and keep showing up, even when it’s hard. Being part of the small percentage of people who have completed a half marathon is something I’m incredibly proud of.

At the beginning of this year, my only goal was to consistently show up for myself. What I didn’t realize was how rewarding that decision would be for not just me, but for my girls and my #1 supporter, who have been cheering me on every step of the way. ❤️

To my amazing running crew, @donas.y.dons , and the friends @florecitasrunclub who encouraged me throughout my runs and moment of doubt, a huge thank you!

Lastly, to the FB friend who I’m so thankful I added as friend a million years ago 😆 and inspired me to get moving last year @elem06 - Thank you for showing up as your authentic self and sharing your magnetic energy.

Help me welcome 🤗 Doña Yesenia @yesi_mice She will be representing Doñas y Dons at this year’s Chicago 13.1! This is her first half marathon!🥳 🙌🏽

Here is her introduction:
Hi! My name is Yesenia and I will be running my first half marathon (13.1 miles) on June 7th.

(You can’t believe it? Neither can I 😂🫣)

My running journey started on January 31, 2026, on a snowy morning meetup with Donas and Dons, and I haven’t looked back since. Most of 2025 was spent wishing for all the things I wanted to do, but this year I decided to get comfortable with being uncomfortable and choose to show up for myself weekend run after weekend run.

And I can honestly say… it’s paying off in ways I could have only imagined. 💫

Thank you, Donas and Dons, for giving me the opportunity to show up for myself and for always waiting for me at the finish line and everything in between. 🫶🏽

Thank you to everyone who took the time to wish me a happy birthday. Yesterday, was spent like most ordinary days- with my little family. I was showered with love and support by those around me and it was the most beautiful reminder of how loved I am by God and how blessed I am that my “ordinary” days are filled with such beauty and magic. ❤️

I was gifted the most beautiful bible by a dear friend and given the most radiant flowers by my husband and mother in law. 🎂 💐 by @yesi_mice
