When Hollywood forgets the full flavor of storytelling, artists like Cecilio Asuncion bring the spice. With a creative compass pointed at authenticity, Asuncion has been serving up stories that go deeper than big box office regurgitations and sanitized clichés. In an industry that still misses the mark on nuance, especially when it comes to marginalized folks and their identities, Asuncion steps in with work that doesn’t just “check boxes.” He builds entirely new platforms, like Cinepride, a film festival born from the need to showcase stories that Hollywood still sidelines.

Let’s be honest – representation isn’t just about who gets the spotlight—it’s about who gets to hold the camera, write the script, and take a stab at tweaking society for the better through film. Whether he’s reframing tired tropes or elevating new voices through a cultural lens, Asuncion proves that storytelling is in need of purpose, not permission. We recently had the chance to talk with Asuncion about reclaiming narratives, making room for honest expression, and creating Cinepride from the ground up, and why the future of film might just be found far from the studio lot.

Some people bring photos of their dogs to work. I brought the actual dogs.

Productivity? Debatable.
Morale? At an all-time high. Sorry Kenzo and Koji, I borrowed @tony.btsta and @darlynbautista_ ‘s dogs.

This is what love looks like at @vanityfurclub

It’s in the little things. The extra set of hands.
The patience when they’re nervous. The cuddles between appointments.

And knowing every dog deserves to feel safe while they’re in our care.

Beautiful grooming is the result. How we make them feel along the way is what matters most!

This is why we do what we do every single day.

It’s not just about making them look beautiful. It’s about earning their trust, making them feel safe and cared for, and knowing that for a few hours, they’re ours to love.

That’s @vanityfurclub .

Meet Ace - @bluejaayy_ ‘s baby.

Tiny face. Big personality. Tongue permanently set to adorable.

Our handsome little Shih Tzu came in for his @vanityfurclub glow-up and clearly understood the assignment. Fresh, fluffy, and feeling himself after @peterson_for_travel and @stellafrancolini gave him the VIP treatment.

Such a proud moment for @vanityfurclub !

We’re honored to be featured in Los Angelist: A Dog Lover’s Guide to Southern California by the Los Angeles Inquisitor, alongside some of Southern California’s favorite destinations for dogs and the people who love them.

Even better, publisher @derekwarburton brought his pup, Ollie, in to experience Vanity Fur Club firsthand. Seeing our approach to concierge grooming, personalized care and pet wellness recognized this early in our journey means so much to our entire team.

Thank you, Derek and @losangelesinquisitor , for including us and for understanding exactly what we’re building: a new kind of grooming experience centered around the dog.
