I make belts for people who inspire me. Mark is exactly who he is. Sure, he’s skilled with a wrench — but the human part, that’s what draws me to Mark and @motogzziclassics.

The first step. Make a bunch of belt blanks.

It’s takes a while till you can get to the “fun” stuff. But it’s really important to me to have control over each step.

Next each of these will get their snaps installed and prong hole punched.

Buckstitching takes forever. Like…forever forever. I get why people like it. I do. But oh my word…

This project is stunning. It’s a belt, hat band, and headstall — all in chocolate brown with white buckstitching. Getting it wrapped up right in time for this customer and her gelding to rock this set at @qhcongress this week.

How lucky am I? To have this board full of orders. When I started this journey a year ago — I wasn’t sure where I was going, and I’m still not. But I have return customers now, and customers who let me run with ideas, and I just feel so lucky.
This is a “side quest” for me. I work a full-time corporate job. But I need this. I need to work with my hands, and to help others bring their vision to life, and to know my craft is worthy.
