This 10:30 video sits deep in my heart. Featuring some smooth, soft shots captured by @josesotophotography , this video documents officially achieving my 4-lap Central Park pack finish with team strategy from @allways_racing.cc and coaching from @chubbysarah The usual ylracego commentary, but with real strategy this time.

Two years ago, I started @ylracego because women’s amateur racing lacked visibility, stories, and footage. My core philosophy was simple: in order to get better at racing bikes, you just have to race.

"A race, go! Another race, go! Third race, go!"

That belief drives everything I do:

To get better as an actor, you keep performing.

To get better at IV insertions, you keep poking people.

To get better as an artist, you HAVE TO keep experiencing life.

Take the hit. Cry. Move on—and never compromise with a weakling mindset.

Who knew the NYC bike racing scene would be interpreted from a Taiwanese American like this?

Celebrating the finish is one thing, but who the hell are we without the people behind the scenes? Shoutout to @kev.bot.12345 for being out there at 4:30 AM every race morning as CRCA Membership Director, and everyone on the board keeping this going.

The final track is Island Sunrise by Fire Ex., born out of Taiwan’s Sunflower Movement. It’s about community taking its future into its own hands—fitting as CRCA moves outside of USAC. Plus, those first two lines of the chorus say it all: "天色漸漸光，遮有一陣人…" (The sky is getting lighter, there is a group of people here…).

Yuchen got 🥉 in Cat 4/5 @tourofamericasdairyland - Tour of Hartland! 🎉🥳🎊🙌

6th out of 26 in the combined field with the 15-18 Juniors 💀 Who would have known Yuchen would finally reach the top three in such a huge event!

In this crit, our junior opponents were relentless. Gas pedal full on with their parents' healthcare insurance, they are aggressive and super strong — especially their recovery speed.

In the @americancritcup series, people here are truly pushing the speed to the maximum. Unlike the Harlem Criterium we did a couple of weeks ago, here in Milwaukee people corner fast and fight for positions with no mercy.

A huge thank you to @ayesuppose who helped me get the race entry. Ayesha also runs @theeabundanceproject , which is dedicated to helping grow BIPOC women racers by providing scholarships, resources, and mentorship. If you don’t know her, check out her IG and get involved with what she is doing!

I honestly wouldn’t even have gone to ToAD this year because traveling to race is very expensive. The amount of time, money, and mental bandwidth just to get into the ACC series is enormous. It is definitely the best way to accumulate crit experience because you get to practice every day. However, if Ayesha wasn't so kind to help out, I would probably still be sitting under a tree in Brooklyn.

Another huge thank you to the best development racing team @allways_racing and @all.ways.cc. My team captain @mckennabfoster & the first lady @annies.gram have saved me so much during these four days. And to @jledee_ and @caramel105spins, who re-arranged their lives to drive me back when I had a mild concussion in the Nutmeg State Games Crit.

Finally, all of this wouldn’t be possible without the best coach @chubbysarah , who sometimes has to suffer through listening to her most chaotic athlete sing the race report. Sarah and her team @w.0_racing are the lighthouse of the NYC women’s racing scene. In terms of racing knowledge, they don't BS and they practice simple things to the extreme — you would think it's easy, but it's hard when there are so many distractions.

I was gambling - if I got away I won but if I got caught I got last. It was actually quite simple.

I had a lot of complicated feelings towards this particular race. I think I did my best at the moment I could and just like I said it was not good enough to have a better result.

What's the difference between last place + hiding & last place + attack? Not much difference. The result is the same.

Sport teaches me to be humble.

I felt irresponsible signing up for @crossbayroubaix because I naively thought the hardest obstacle would be getting a gravel bike in a week. I didn't study the course, and I didn't come with enough mental toughness — all of that got spent during my road racing season.

The staff were incredibly generous and supportive. @emmabetuel shouted my brain back into gear early on, and @edithracer kept checking in to make sure I was okay. Chris from @kruiscx let me use his bug spray, and someone from @tobedetermined.cc gave me a gel. The community out there is genuinely good.

The first hour was really, really scary. But I surprisingly learned fast — I was able to corner on sand by the end, which is a lifetime bike-handling PR for me.

That said, I kept falling in a spot where you could end up in the ER with "foreign body in the rectum" as your chief complaint. That didn't happen, thank god — but it absolutely could have. As a medical professional, I'd honestly rather heal from a broken collarbone. Just saying.

OK — Yuchen is still recovering from her pack finishes. How about watching how our First Lady @annies.gram of @all.ways.cc & @allways_racing.cc took great care of these racers. Scream and shoutout please!!!! Without Annie, who the hell we are? We are just a bunch of racers who don’t know how to pin numbers and forget water bottles.
