Yesterday I was back in Juso 💘 I started the day super early, painting the shutters of @maruhhi_k2, a small local spot specializing in Akashiyaki (明石焼き)… so oishii! I met the owner two years ago, so it made me really happy to see her again and, this time, leave a little piece of my work there💖🐙 My friends @sachi_eve and @bakibaking also came by to see me, and I got to visit the mural I painted two years ago for @yodokabe Blue skies, painting, reunions, friends and Akashiyaki. It was such an amazing day in Juso ☀️🐙💘 ありがとう十三！またね！ 🇯🇵 taken in Juso, Osaka by @yodokabe

淀壁参加アーティストと火消魂による「半纏(HANTEN)」を再構築するプロジェクト「淀壁火消」 NAZE氏(@naze.989)による「半纏」のマナーに則って再定義されたHANTENとTシャツ。 ヘビーオンスのデニム地をベースに、大紋部分に「鯰（ナマズ）」のモチーフ、腰柄部分に「わすれたことをわすれないで」とレーザー抜染加工で表現されている。 （作品に対するアーティストコメント） 今回のテーマは「循環」です 昔、地震は鯰が起こすと言われていて、その後に起こる火事を火消しが守る。そんな江戸時代の人々のイマジネーションから着想を得ました 子どもの頃から鹿島神宮へ初詣に行くのが当たり前で、鯰を鎮める「要石」の伝承も身近な存在でした 火と水、破壊と再生。失われるものがあれば生まれるものもある 当たり前に繰り返される自然の循環を忘れないこと。そして、忘れてはいけない出来事も忘れないこと そんな思いを込めています。 ──────────── -半纏というフォーマットに則ってデザインすることについて- まず半纏のフォーマットがあること自体が新鮮でした。しかし、だからこそ、そこに歴史や伝統を感じたので、自分もそのバトンを受け取るような気持ちで、いま僕は何を伝えられるかを考えながらデザインしました。 Yodokabe Hikeshi — a project reconstructing the hanten (HANTEN) by artists from Yodokabe together with Hikeshi Spirit. A HANTEN redefined by NAZE (@naze.989) in keeping with the codes of the traditional hanten. Built on a base of heavy-ounce denim, it features a catfish (namazu) motif on the daimon (the large crest across the back) and the phrase "Don't forget what you've forgotten" on the koshigara (waist panel), both rendered in laser discharge printing. (Artist's comment on the work) The theme this time is "circulation." Long ago, earthquakes were said to be caused by a giant catfish, and the fires that followed were held back by the hikeshi, the firefighters of the city. I took my inspiration from that piece of Edo-period imagination. Since I was a child, making the New Year's visit to Kashima Jingu was simply part of life, and the legend of the kaname-ishi, the keystone that pins the catfish down, was always close at hand. Fire and water, destruction and rebirth. Where something is lost, something else is born. Not forgetting the cycles of nature that repeat as a matter of course — and not forgetting the events that must never be forgotten. That is what I've put into this piece. ──────────── — On designing within the format of the hanten — At first, the very fact that the hanten has a set format felt new to me. 淀壁参加アーティストと火消魂による「半纏(HANTEN)」を再構築するプロジェクト「淀壁火消」 ESSU氏(@essu_suisugi)による「半纏」のマナーに則って再定義されたHANTEN。 リバーシブル仕様で、表面は藍染刺子生地をベースに、ESSU氏のアイコンのパッチ、バックには大版のプリント。 裏面には度肝を抜くような意匠が施されている。 （作品に対するアーティストコメント） テーマは「江戸の華」 今回半纏をデザインするに、あたって意識したのは江戸時代に実際に使用していたシンプルで実用的であり、様式化されたデザイン性を、持つ「当時の半纏」です。そのミニマルなデザインと様式のなかで遊ぶ江戸の人たちの「粋」と言う美学を少しでも表現したいと思い、クラシカルな濃い藍染でシンプルに表現する表地に対して、裏地は魍魎が跋扈する肝を抜くような派手な意匠となってます。 ‘Yodokabe HiKESHi’—a project by Yodokabe participating artists and HiKESHI SPiRiT to reinterpret the ‘Hanten’ A traditional Japanese workwear jacket redefined in accordance with the ‘Hanten’ code, created by ESSU (@essu_suisugi). It is reversible, with the front featuring indigo-dyed sashiko fabric as a base, an iconic patch by ESSU, and a large-scale print on the back. The inside features a design that is truly breathtaking. (Artist’s commentary on the work) The theme is ‘The Splendour of Edo’. In designing this ‘Hanten’, I focused on the ‘Hanten of that era’—those actually used during the Edo period, which were simple, practical and possessed a stylised aesthetic. Wishing to express, even in a small way, the aesthetic of ‘iki’—the ‘chic’ sensibility of the people of Edo who found joy within that minimalist design and style—I have contrasted the minimal, classical deep indigo-dyed outer fabric with a lining featuring a startlingly flamboyant design teeming with supernatural creatures. #yodokabe #hikeshispirit #淀壁 #半纏 #essu taken in Hikeshi Spirit（火消魂） by @yodokabe

淀壁プロジェクトと火消魂による「半纏(HANTEN)」を再構築するプロジェクト「淀壁火消」 本プロジェクトの代表であるBAKIBAKI氏 (@bakibaking)による「半纏」のマナーに則ってデザイン・再定義されたTシャツと半纏。 「八咫烏（ヤタガラス）」はフロッキープリントで立体感のある毛足を表現。BAKI柄は銀箔を施し高級感を演出している。 （作品に対するアーティストコメント） タイトル： BAKIGARAS コンセプト： 日本神話に登場する導きの神「八咫烏（ヤタガラス）」をモチーフに、日本の壁画文化を先導するプロジェクト「淀壁」の志を重ね合わせて表現しました。 高級感のあるサテン地に打ち込まれた、緻密かつダイナミックな刺繍。太陽と八咫烏、そして象徴的なBAKI柄を背負うデザインは、スカジャンの持つ不良性と伝統美が交差する「現代の羽織り」です。日本の伝統である半纏を現代のストリートウェアへとアップデートし、日常に新たな高揚感をもたらします。 A T-shirt and hanten designed and redefined by the project’s representative, BAKIBAKI (@bakibaking), in keeping with the codes and traditions of the hanten. The Yatagarasu (three-legged crow) is rendered in flock print, its raised pile giving the motif a three-dimensional texture, while the BAKI pattern is finished in silver foil for an air of luxury. (Artist’s comment on the work) Title: BAKIGARAS Concept: Built around the Yatagarasu — the guiding deity of Japanese mythology — this piece overlays that motif with the spirit of Yodokabe, a project leading the way for Japan’s mural culture. Intricate yet dynamic embroidery is driven into luxurious satin. Bearing the sun, the Yatagarasu, and the emblematic BAKI pattern across the back, it is a “modern haori” where the rebellious edge of the sukajan intersects with traditional beauty. 【5/31『希望の系譜』 移設記念イベント終了報告】 大阪・関西万博西ゲート、BAKIBAKI壁画『希望の系譜』十三移設プロジェクト、先日無事にお披露目することができました！ クラウドファウンディングでご支援していただいた245名の方々、サポート・応援していただいた皆様、移設先に受け入れていただき、最高の保存状態で設置していただいたプラザオーサカ様に感謝申し上げます。 淀壁としてはこの壁画が32個目の作品となり、新たな十三のシンボルとして、この地に愛され根付くことを願っています。 壁画はホテル内駐車場にあり、どなたでも観覧可能です。夜間照明も完備してますので、迫力とともにディテールを体感しにお立ち寄りください。 また当日の淀壁ツアーやトークショー、アフターパーティもご参加いただきありがとうございます！ 多様な価値観を受け入れうる淀川・十三が、 カルチャーの灯火を絶やさず、壁画をきっかけに 更なる発展をしていきますように！！ BAKIBAKI (淀壁実行委員長) taken in ホテルプラザオーサカ by @yodokabe
