A year that changes how you teach. 🌑

The Yoga Science School 300 Hour Yoga Teacher Training is open. 12 modules, January to December 2027, here in the Okanagan, with August off because rest is part of the curriculum.

Not all trainings are equal. Some give you hours. Some give you a certificate. Fewer change how you teach on Monday.

🌑 Your 200 hour taught you how to teach yoga. This year teaches you why it works, and how to say it in your own words.
🌑 Real research in every module, translated so it makes you braver, not smaller.
🌑 You don't need a science background! That's my job - and what the training is for.

Founding cohort tuition is $4,300. It is a small room, up to 20 teachers. Enrollment closes Dec 15 and we begin Jan 15. Open to teachers with a 200 hour from any school.

I have been working on this for over a year, and I am very excited the doors are now open!

Yoga Alliance is simplifying its credentials in 2027 (RYT, E-RYT and RYS replace the numbered labels), but training hours still count, so choose your training by what you’ll actually learn.

Comment NEW MOON and I'll send you a link to learn more. 🌑

Most of you found me through the science. This is the other half of how I got here.

For 8 years, I’ve also run Grace & Flow.

Outdoor yoga on a platform above Okanagan Lake.
Sunset classes. Hundreds of people every summer. Two “Best of” awards.

Every cue I give on that platform comes from what we study in the Yoga Science School.

The theory isn’t theory to me. I’m using it, out loud, in front of real people, every week of the summer.

The science and the soul aren’t two different things here.

They’re the same practice, taught by the same person.

That’s the whole point of this school. 🤍 Both spaces are open to you. taken in Predator Ridge by @yoga.science.school

You’ll know that you 🍃know🍃

I used to think teacher training was about learning enough to finally feel qualified: collecting the cues, the sequences, the right thing to say.

It isn't.

It's about understanding the body so deeply that you stop outsourcing your knowing with the student in front of you and in your own life, when you need to know what's right for you.

Take square your hips, for instance. For most people, it isn't even possible because how far a hip rotates is mostly set by the shape of your own bones, not by effort. A teacher who knows that doesn't push you into pain. They meet the body that's actually there.

That's what the science is for, not so you defer to an expert. It's so that you learn to trust yourself.

Applications for our next 200-hour cohort are open. If teaching or deepening your yoga practice has been quietly on your mind, let's have a call and see if this is a fit.

The science on this: how far a hip can actually rotate is mostly set up by the shape and angle of your own pelvis and acetabular femoral joint, not how hard you try. (Harrington, 2016, Journal of Hip Preservation Surgery.) by @yoga.science.school

Your brain has a thermostat for happiness. Let’s turn it up.

10 seconds! That’s all it takes to raise your joy ceiling.

Gay Hendricks calls it the Upper Limit in his book called The Big Leap: the point where good feels like too much, so we quietly pull back. But we can practice to not pull back, and expand our happiness thermostat.

Research on neuroplasticity says our brains keep rewiring through practice at any age. How cool is that?!

3 ways to stretch your joy ceiling this weekend:
🌕 Pause ten seconds after something good happens. Let it land in your body.
🌕 Say “thank you” instead of deflecting the next compliment.
🌕 Do one thing just because it feels good, with no justification.

Save this for your next win. Happy Friday!

Good news is, your hours aren’t going anywhere. 👏🏼

Yoga Alliance is changing in 2027. Before you invest in any training, ask the five questions on slide 5. Then look up the answers! You're allowed to.

What do you wish your first training had taught you?

I’ve asked myself that every month for 12 months.

Here’s what I know so far:
🌑 1. Knowing the poses is not the same as knowing the room.
🌑 2. The science should make you braver, not smaller.
🌑 3. A good training leaves you more yourself, not more like your teacher.

In 2 days, under the new moon, all of it gets a name.

Which one hit home? Comment 1, 2 or 3 or dm me your answer🌙

New moon this weekend. The kind of dark sky that's good for planting something.🌙

I'm naming what I've been building in a few days.

💫 Twelve months.
🏹 One weekend a month.
🦅 A year that changes how you teach.

Ever stood next to a student mid-pose and thought, “Do I say something? Touch them? Just... hover?” 😅

Good news: great assisting doesn’t always involve your hands. Join us November 1 for a hands-on assistance workshop with Tessa Murray, where you’ll learn to support students with clear cues, props, presence, and (when it’s welcome) touch.

And here’s the bonus: assisting others is one of the best ways to feel the alignment and energy of a pose in your own body. You’ll walk away a more confident teacher and a more intuitive practitioner.

I am obsessed with connections between us and other living organisms in nature. Take this image by @val.lineart - the brain and spine aren't separate systems. One grows out of the other, the way branches grow out of a trunk.🌿

Neurons actually branch the same way, as fractal geometry ❄️ (the same pattern can be seen in coastlines, lightning bolts, river deltas, and the bronchial tubes in your lungs).

And skin and nervous system come from the very same sheet of cells in the earliest weeks of you as a tiny human, which is part of why touch 👐 can reach you the way it does. by @yoga.science.school

Teaching isn't just knowing the pose. It's knowing when to offer a hand, and when to hold back.

That's a skill, not an instinct. It's taught. by @yoga.science.school

Full moon energy doesn't ask for more heat. It asks for a different rhythm.

This is Chandra Namaskar, the moon salutation. Save it, screenshot it, or come back to it whenever you want a practice that slows you down instead of speeding you up.🔖 by @yoga.science.school
