POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

May I distract your attention from VOTING today for one moment to say that I sold a novel!! I'm really excited to announce that my debut lesbian vampire thriller HUNGER IN THE BLOOD will be published next year by Tor UK!! Thank you so much to my editor Sophie and my agent Alex for believing in this book 🥰🦷🩸 you can read the full announcement here https://www.thebookseller.com/rights/tor-uk-acquires-queer-vampire-debut-hunger-in-the-blood-by-eris-young and in BookBrunch!
HitB is a dark queer crunchy angry novel that I finished writing during 2024 November US election season. It follows an ancient Mycenaean vampire who, after being buried alive for 3,000 years, is dug up in the modern era only to be trapped and exploited. I was processing a sense of rage and powerlessness while I was writing that I think echoes how a lot of us are feeling right now. But I also think (hope) that its a fun, violent, gory, sometimes funny story of a woman who has no idea what she's doing trying to navigate the world and find some autonomy.
I hope you'll enjoy it. Now go vote! by @young.eris

Illustration for ’Figurine’ by @young.eris , for @extrateethmag . ✨ A really captivating and strange story about a mysterious little figurine that slowly begins to awaken something more primal in the people around it.

Something silly that makes me happy: I got this enamel pin from the @tornightfire table at a con 2 years ago. I wanted it because I love their list and admire so many of the authors they publish, but I've never put it on anything I own because it felt weird; Nightfire was a dream publisher for me but because I wasn't one of their authors it felt like idk stolen valor to put it on my bag or jacket. But now I am! It's a nice little pin and I put it on my everyday jacket. No one will probably notice but it makes the accomplishment feel a little more real. by @young.eris

WORKSHOPS!!!
Are you interested in writing science fiction, but not sure where to start??? Are you a fantasy or horror writer looking to branch out into this popular but sometimes misunderstood genre?
This intensive idea generation workshop @cymerafestival will explore what sci-fi actually IS and what it is good for, with participants taking inspiration from their own passions and interests within science and technology. Participants will develop a core science fictional concept, then start fleshing out their own sci fi worlds and the characters who live in them. Participants will then explore the relationships between these characters and their world in order to generate the spark of conflict: the "engine" that drives the vehicle of a story.
IN PERSON: SUNDAY 7 JUNE 10am
DIGITAL: SATURDAY 6 JUNE 10am
Book your tickets at https://www.cymerafestival.co.uk/2026-tickets/workshop-writing-science-fiction or in the link in my bio

Hsbfbgn I'm sorry about this graphic I worked on it for like an hour and then realized I didn't say what the workshop was about and had to redo it?!?!??!??! hahahahhaa

Yeehaw I am officially part of the Cool Kids Club and publishing a story with @extrateethmag ! I'm super pleased to have found a home for my VERY nasty creepy faggy and dare I say sensual short story FIGURINE, in which I am displaying my obsession with antiques and home interiors and also probably emotionally processing something or other, but whatever 😂😅
You can pre-order right from this post! The issue releases soon and we will be launching it in early June - stay tuned! Hey that rhymes by @young.eris
