My friends… The pacific is starting to stir, and the jet stream wants to get some action going with some more unsettled weather. But right now, it appears there’s just not enough energy for a good base builder. That could change soon 👀

It’s still far too early, but some promising signals are starting to emerge, including the wet tilt from our incredible El Niño, and model guidance for November. Will it be cold enough for snow?

It’s getting a bit chilly out here. 🥶

Yup, we’re firing up the heaters, stocking up firewood, and officially feeling winter in the air.

And so is the El Niño hype machine.

We want nothing more than a killer winter here. Deep snow, endless powder days, and a season that delivers but before we start calling it the winter of the century, let’s take a look at the history.

Congratulations to Joseph as he is a FINALIST in the 10th Annual 2026 Business Excellence Awards, Rising Above the Peaks of Excellence for Young Professional of the Year.

This year the chamber received an extraordinary record number of nominations submitted by the community and the Nominations Committee carefully selected the three finalists in each category.

Nominations were open to the general public. Then a Chamber committee narrowed it down to the top 3 in each category. Now Chamber members (primary contact from
each business) votes for the winner. The winner will be announced at the Awards ceremony:

Ever wondered what Eastern Sierra locals show their family and friends when they visit? Mammoth Lakes has incredible geological wonders, and they’re right in our backyard 😍

Check out Visit Mammoth’s Certified Unreal Interactive Map to learn more about all the unreal sites in Mammoth Lakes and the Eastern Sierra! 📲

👉 A couple of my favorite easily accessible places for a quick walk or hang are:

#1 Inyo Craters
🚘 About a 15-minute drive from the Village at Mammoth.
🚶 Approximately a 1-mile hike round trip.
Just plug it into your maps, and it’ll take you straight to the parking lot. There is a bathroom there.
From the Mammoth Lakes Scenic Loop, turn onto a dirt road called Dry Creek Road Spur. Follow it to the trailhead.

#2 Earthquake Fault
🚘 About a 7-minute drive from the Village at Mammoth.
🚶Approximately a 0.2 to 0.5-mile roundtrip hike.
From Minaret Road, pass the Village and, before Woolly’s Adventure Center, turn right to Earthquake Fault. You’ll see a big sign. It’s a paved road to the picnic area and trailhead with a bathroom.
