Hello! If you’re new to my page, my name is Marisa. I am a professional singer/dancer/performer in the Twin Cities. I am from Ellsworth, WI but now reside in the North Metro with my husband @austinkirckof. I sing in various bands and groups from Minneapolis and used to nanny full time as well. Both passions of music and children have come together since I started doing princess appearances on my own.

The reality is, there’s multiple reasons why I chose to start my own princess character business. I’ll share a few of them below.
•
1. I love kids. I used to be a part time and full time nanny for years in between performance contracts or at the same time as performance jobs. I have always loved how funny, inquisitive, innocent and imaginative kids are. They really show us how we should view the world more creatively and being around them makes me a better person because I care about how they perceive me and my actions (they are always watching & listening!!!)

2. I love using my God given gifts in a way that creates shared joy in experiences. I have been singing and dancing since I could walk and talk and started acting on stage when I was 6. I am a firm believer in my Christian Faith that God has a purpose for us and gives His children gifts that He wants us to use to glorify Him and help others.

3. I love creating shared experiences. Yes, Princesses are just made-up characters but it goes deeper than that. A child knowing that they are loved and cherished enough to have such an important person attend THEIR birthday party builds their confidence, sense of identity, fuels their imaginations for what they can become. It also creates a special perspective for their parents to witness the joy of their child’s reaction. I believe these shared experiences are what makes a family come together in such a positive way.

4. I’m passionate about supporting the Arts. Where would we be in this world without art? A world without music, paintings, films, books? It would be quite a different place. Being a singer, dancer, actress myself, I believe sharing my artistic expression keeps the influence of artistic expression alive. We need it to feed our souls and imaginations

5. I love supporting small businesses. Being a small business myself, I greatly respect the work, dedication and passion that goes into keeping a small business going. Highlighting other businesses that are in my community is not just healthy for our economy, but for our communities as well. Probably the most touching moment I’ve ever had meeting someone in character ✨ READ BELOW ⬇️⬇️

I was on my way to @thehubanoka for my storytime a few weekends ago and I ran into @lucyhunter13 and her son Casey. She asked if I could stop to say hello and take a photo with Casey who is non verbal. I replied, “of course!” and proceeded to kneel down next to Casey. When his eyes met mine he broke into a HUGE smile and was filled with excitement! It was SO sweet!! 🥹 Lucy said, “wow! He loves you!” She thanked me and I thanked them and I was on my way…
I had forgotten about this quick interaction until I read a message from Lucy a few weeks later…she said:

“I wanted to reach out because your kindness meant so much to our family this weekend.

My son, Casey, has special needs and is non-speaking. We meet you as you were arriving for story time, and you took a couple of minutes to stop for a picture.

What touched me most was the way you interacted with Casey. You spoke directly to him with such warmth, making him feel seen and important. Most people speak to me instead of him, and watching someone connect with him was incredibly moving.

Casey was absolutely captivated by you. His smile said everything he couldn’t put into words. As his mom, I hope the world will see the amazing little boy that I see every day. In those few moments, you did exactly that.

Thank you for seeing Casey before seeing his disability. What may have felt like a small interaction to you became a memory that I’ll treasure forever. Your kindness made an impact on both of us, and I wanted you to know how appreciated you are.”

😭😭😭I was SO moved by this message because I had no idea how that short greeting had impacted this mom and her son!!🥹 What I thought was just an average encounter was something much more!!
All this to say, please 🙏 PLEASE treat those around you with the respect and kindness you wish to receive. Kids like Casey or ANY child deserves to be seen, heard and shown how important they are. Those short encounters with adults around them carry weight - much more weight than we think!!
