The story follows Aakash and Rohini, whose friendship grows through their shared love of music and the simple pleasures of listening to cassettes on a Walkman. Their relationship develops naturally, making their journey feel relatable and genuine. However, fate brings unexpected challenges, leaving Aakash with a deep sense of heartbreak and longing.

The story later moves to Kolkata, where Aakash pursues his ambition of becoming a WBCS officer. This change of setting also marks a new stage in his life, filled with new experiences, challenges, and unexpected turns. Yet, despite moving forward, his past continues to influence him. Music becomes more than entertainment—it becomes a bridge between memories, emotions, and people.

One of the strongest aspects of Rewind is its nostalgic atmosphere. In today's age of instant streaming and digital music, the idea of carefully choosing a cassette, playing a favorite song, and associating music with particular memories.

The novel also explores the idea that some memories never truly disappear. The title Rewind is therefore particularly appropriate.

Overall, Rewind is a gentle and emotionally driven novel that combines romance with nostalgia. Its greatest appeal lies in the way it connects a personal love story with the cultural memories of an earlier generation. Readers who enjoy stories about first love, friendship, music, ambition, and second chances are likely to find something meaningful in it.

A 3/5⭐️book for me.

He is a prince, and she is the daughter of a politician. Their lives are far apart. He has always been in the limelight, and she is independently building her own dream life. One thing is surely in common - marriage is not on their lists. But their fathers have a different plan~ An arranged marriage.

Prince of Jaipur with the daughter of Bengaluru. Both need to come together to call this marriage off, but what is an Indian romance without drama or gossip?

What i really liked about the story is that it wasn't rushed. It felt natural. Vedveer, the male protagonist, is proof of why we love men written by women. A character who belongs to the royal lineage and has only lived in luxury is so well grounded. Not once in the story i saw the character imposing his ideas onto the female protagonist.

I loved how he constantly adored her and noticed the little things about her but not once stepping inside her boundaries. Very charming indeed. Even though Aaditha was holding her feelings back, i was giggling at the confessions by Vedveer. So freaking adorable.

The arranged marriage dynamic is what felt off for me. I felt it was very vague to bring the characters together, or at least i was expecting a good reason behind it, which we never got in the story. The protagonists also kept losing the connection. There were gaps, like they were losing touch and coming back again, and maybe that could have been built a little well.

Overall, this story is sweet, fun, and chaotic but definitely very cute. And i am fond of a North-South love story, and this was so much fun to read. I have been wanting to read a Indian romcom for a while now, and this book was a great start.

3.5/5✨️

This book is prose in motion. A work of art.
Exquisitely written and brilliantly narrated.

A tale of loss, grief, and remembrance. The moment i was a few pages in, i knew I would lose my heart for this book. I haven't read a writing like this. This was an experience. I have devoured this book slowly and intimately. I have read some lines again and again just to feel what i read.

I could feel a deep resonance with the character of Agnes. Her story spoke to me. I felt emotionally vulnerable reading her. A character so raw and estranged. She had a depth that not all can interpret. She is a daughter, a mother, a sister, a wife, connected to the world, and yet so far. Her nature, agency, and her voice were astounding to read.

As people of letters, we study the significance of figures of speech in literature, and after years of studying and exploring literary works, i witnessed the brilliant usage of it in this book. Beautiful personification of elements that are mostly left unseen.

The personification and metaphors used by the writer is a moment to pause and contemplate on. The juxtaposition of two timelines in the story is a perfect expression of the characters' surroundings, life, and occurrences.

I am going to think about the ending for a long, long time.

The characters, plot, pace, and theme feel so flawlessly put together. I have grown a profound love for the book and the writer. She is a genius, and i would devour anything she writes.

As a lover of literature and as a reader, i would recommend this book to anyone and everyone who simply don't read literature but live it.

11/10 ✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️ read for me. I will often pick this book up for a reread.
