Join us at the Mid-Autumn Wellness Fair TOMORROW, Sunday 10/4. 11 AM - 4 PM Don Bosco Community Center FREE Mid-Autumn Wellness Fair & Moon Festival! Hella Good Deeds is bringing the community together for a celebration of culture, wellness, and connection. While we honor the traditions of the Moon Festival, they’re also opening our doors to community members of all backgrounds to come enjoy the resources and services available. Yukari KC will have a FRESH mochi making booth where people can make their own mochi. ✨THANK YOU!!! ✨ To our volunteers, sponsors and vendors: Thank you so much for making our third annual Natsu Matsuri such a huge success! We were truly blown away by all of the support. It was such a beautiful day of cultural celebration, and we couldn’t have done it without our amazing group! Over 1,800 people showed up, despite the heat, to support Japanese and Japanese-related performers and vendors! 🫶🏼 Natsu Matsuri is our biggest annual event, and all proceeds go towards other Japanese community events throughout the year. 🎐Yukari KC is able to create spaces to be Unapologetically Japanese, thanks to your support. Café Cà Phê would not be here without the help of Madoka Koguchi and Chikara Hibino, co-founders of Yukari KC — a nonprofit for the Japanese community. 6 years ago, Madoka took the biggest chance and moved to Kansas City during the pandemic to help me build Café Cà Phê. Just us two. We worked 7 days a week in that cart. In the west bottoms. In the west side. In every corner we could find. Sometimes we made one sale. There were times we would yell out to the ether — “HEY CUSTOMERS! Hey people! Come see us!” And laugh. And sometimes we’d even take a nap, waiting for someone to talk to us or buy coffee. Madoka sat by my side through every pitch, every post, every new decision I attempted to make. She helped other businesses thrive as well, and has been instrumental in all of our advocacy and work. 6 years later, Madoka started and created a nonprofit called Yukari KC. Now, she is independently is running an entire Japanese festival with 20+ vendors, handmade games that they worked tirelessly on, and grown their community by hundreds. 💪🏽😭💯👏🏾 I am so proud of you Madoka and Chiko. You both have not only helped me create a foundation for our city, but have made our community so much stronger, more specific, more catered towards the people that need it. You both also are OUTSTANDING friends — making sure my head doesn’t explode or any of our communities. Today is their summer festival. 🇯🇵☀️ NATSUMATSURI DROP IS HERE 🎆🍉 Japanese summer is back and I’m bringing some of my favorite summer memories with it!!!! 🍉 SUIKAWARI SHIRT + HOODIE 🍉 Inspired by Suikawari (スイカ割り) — the classic Japanese summer game where you cover your eyes and try to smash a watermelon with a stick or baseball bat! 😂🍉 I used to love doing this during summer, and I’ve honestly missed it so much. So I wanted to bring that memory back through a new Suikawari-inspired shirt and hoodie design! 🎆 FIREWORKS EMBROIDERY HOODIE 🎆 Japanese fireworks are something truly special. I still remember going to my grandparents’ city and watching one of the huge summer fireworks shows. 🎵 Get ready for an exciting lineup of performances at Natsu Matsuri! We’ve got an amazing group of artists bringing their incredible talents to celebrate Japanese culture right here in KC. The lineup includes: Keiyuu Taiko, a Shodo calligraphy performance by Miho Kawashita, yosakoi dance by Tatsumaki Yosakoi, taiko performance by Three Trails Taiko, and a musical set by Yuya Mix. These performances are a perfect way to experience the energy and tradition of Japanese summer festivals. Join us on August 30 and be part of the celebration! 🌊 We’re bringing the traditional Japanese summer festival fun to KC at Natsu Matsuri! These iconic games are usually only found at special festivals, like Natsu Matsuri, in Japan—but we’re bringing this slice of Japanese summer to YOU right here in the heart of the Midwest! Get your Game Pass for $10 (for kids under 12) or Game Tickets, $2 each (for anyone 13 and older), on our website or at the event. Tickets are also required to enter and can be purchased at the link in our bio. The entry tickets are $8 in advance, $10 on the day of the event, so be sure to grab them now!
