⚫️ But seriously, I believe it’s very harmful to feel ashamed of your hard work, your safe place, your prosperity, or even your luck.

It makes no sense, because then any goal that leads you towards growth, success, or a safer environment is doomed to make you feel like some kind of privileged bully.

So I prefer to believe in perseverance, kindness, hard work, and the right to be proud of your achievements. These are things available to everyone.

Nobody knows what you’ve been through to get where you are. People can always say you’re just entitled or privileged. But I’d rather keep those moral judgment games to myself.

And keep doing what I have to do, right where I fought to be. by @yulia__bas

⚫️ I don’t think this question “how do feelings get transformed into an art piece” could be fully answered.

If it could, we wouldn’t be making art at all.

There are several new works that will be presented at an exhibition “EROS & ASHES” curated by @why_nat_projects
in Florence, at the @spaziosassetti with @ariaartgallery .

Building Soft Armor for me and My Daughter ⚔️

This project is part of my DOM Art Residency @dom_art_residence, where I’m developing the work through regular live streams from my studio, streaming for eight hours a day with the process open to an audience online and in Venice pavilion.

The project began with a very ordinary object associated with the female body and gradually became an inquiry into bodily autonomy, personal boundaries, vulnerability, protection and female agency.

I’m interested in what happens when a material associated with shaping and exposing the female body is transformed into a structure of defense.

For me, the material is not separate from the idea. It carries the meaning.

This is part of my broader interest in feminist contemporary art, the body as a site of memory, materiality, embodied experience and the relationship between vulnerability and strength.

These images are simply the process: cutting, stitching, assembling, trying, changing, and slowly watching the armor take form. by @yulia__bas

🌑 As an artist I find that the disappearance of nuance is one of the most serious crises in contemporary cultural life 🌑

I have watched the art world, a field built on reflection and dialogue, become a place where the range of permitted opinion field shrinks each year.

🚨 Refusing to take the whole package is read as disloyalty, not as thinking.

I think the capacity to say I need more information before I decide is one of the harder things a person can do right now, and one of the more necessary.

⚫️ The moment I put down the brush and let pure anger become my medium, everything changed. Hands in direct contact—frustration, failure, and finally, a strange sense of rebuilding.

For me, art only became honest once I stopped trying to control the outcome and let the process pull me apart.
