We asked Selena which Latina icon she'd like to dress up as this year. Her answer: @badbunnypr. Although Benito isn't a Latina, he is one of the main Latin artists who has given a space to all of us, regardless of gender or orientation.

For that and so much more, we're happy our daughter is growing up in a world with thoughtful artists who not only create meaningful music but also invite everyone to their table.

Yvette Triviño Pantoja is a powerhouse in any boardroom, any room. The fact that she is now a VP at Canela Media isn’t a surprise. She spent years prior at iHeartRadio, Pandora, SiriusXM, and Vox selling advertisement at the highest levels. And yes, she can sell water to a well, but she’s more than a dynamic advertising exec, she’s an example for others to follow.

Yvette is a child of Colombian immigrants. Her pops was a cabbie and her mom a schoolteacher, both of whom instilled hard work and determination in their daughter. She's a Queens girl. The product of public education but also a Hofstra grad.

She’s always had drive. She's never lacked confidence. Whether it was trying to be Angie Martinez’s intern or pushing companies as part of the street team at WBLI.

She is the epitome of Latina Power, and our daughter will be better for it. Because in her mami she sees all she can become, and more.

When we were dating, Yva asked me, “I hope you’re not one of those guys who’s obsessed with sports or a team.” I lied. There’s always been one team: the Knicks. Today, we’re a proud Knicks family. Thank you to the @nyknicks for making my childhood dream come true and for making my daughter a lifelong fan. PS: Bodega KAT loves the kids & Fanatics Fest was an elite family experience.///

New 'stack up, Latina Power edition:
"As much as I was in awe of Shakira's stage presence, I was more mesmerized by my daughter’s stillness as she watched the Golden Hips from Barranquilla. Towards the end of the night, the kid was waning. As I held her in my arms, I told her, “Shakira is Colombian like mami. She’s a powerful Latina like her too.” Just like she’ll become one day.

Of course, it’s ironic that I saw Shakira the day after Rep. Brandon Gill took offense at the National Museum of American History for selling Latina Power merchandise, created by ShopJZD, a Latina and queer-owned company. He asked, “What is Latina Power?”

And we all know what Gill was angling at: Well, if Latina Power is acceptable, why isn’t White Power? The answer is stained in blood: because White Power is something reaped in racism and hate. Latina Power grew from a God-given right to be heard.

So to further answer your question, Mr. Gill, “What is Latina Power?” It is: Dolores Huerta, Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, Selena Quintanilla, Gloria Estefan, Lady Pink, Las Hermanas Mirabal, Frida Kahlo, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rigoberta Menchú, Karol G, Soledad O’Brien, Celia Cruz, of course, Shakira, and so many more."

A lot of classic albums are celebrating anniversaries this year, but none bigger than our never-ending love song. This is Latin Love. Two kids of immigrants, from Brooklyn and Queens, respectively, who found love in Manhattan.

Happy anniversary, Bonita Applebum. Thank you for still putting me on.

And lastly: go Ecuador, go Colombia, and as always . . . go Knicks. 🏆

New 'stack up: The wife and I went to see @badbunnypr in España:
"This was our first international concert together. And definitely the first in a stadium of this magnitude: Estadi Olímpic Lluís de Montjuïc. Benito’s control of the audience was mesmerizing. Yet, as someone who studied Latin American Studies in university, the weight of Bad’s performance in Spain, the country that colonized, imposed its religious will, decimated our indigenous ancestors, and enslaved our African ancestors, is not lost on me. I know the true power he wields in this land.

To see 60,000 attendees, mainly Spaniards, sing every word in boricua dialect was truly something. But here’s my personal highlight: his performance of “NUEVAYoL.” The moment the classic salsa by El Gran Combo came on, the crowd rose with excitement, and once the dembow beat dropped with Bad screaming “NUEVAYoL,” I turned to my wife and said, “I have goosebumps.” She said she did too. To witness an ocean of people who have probably never set foot in New York, my home city, the land where my parents immigrated to for a better future, share that moment with us brought a sensation we haven’t felt at a concert in a long time. It was pride. The same pride every New Yorker is feeling right now as our @nyknicks chase their first championship in 53 years."
