Sonic is back on the SEGA Genesis 💨 To celebrate 35 years of Sonic the Hedgehog, SEGA and @iam8bit have teamed up on these new Legacy Cartridge editions of Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 — and yes, they’re fully playable on original Genesis hardware. These two games are a huge part of why I became a SEGA fan in the first place, so getting brand-new cartridges and firing them up on an original Genesis and CRT in 2026 is pretty surreal. The translucent Blue Blur and Two Tail Amber cartridges look incredible, but there’s also a twist: 1 in 8 cartridges features a special Chaos Emerald variant. 👀 Quantities are limited — check out @iam8bit for current availability. #SonicTheHedgehog #Sonic35 #SEGA #SegaGenesis #iam8bit by @yvr_retro
Nintendo gacha at Narita are thee best in the world! They cost 600yen but they’re literally the best toy capsules I’ve ever seen. Most ones are usually filled with cheap crap. If you’re in Narita these are outside arrivals and the whole Nintendo exhibit is a must see! . . #nintendostore #narita #naritaairport #nintendogacha #nintendo by @yvr_retro
Back from Japan, already missing the little things. 🍵🍂 Taking a quiet moment outside with Japanese sweets and a cup of tea helps tho. November’s Sakuraco box, Sakai’s Autumn Wonder, celebrates the tea culture and traditional sweets of Sakai, Osaka. Think Sweet Potato Jelly, Walnut Mochi, maple leaf sugar candies and warming Hojicha, alongside Shippo lacquered chopsticks. Each monthly box supports local Japanese makers, with 20 traditional seasonal treats, Japanese tea and a homeware item. The cultural booklet shares the stories behind the snacks, plus descriptions and allergy information. Tea lovers can also choose an optional add-on with seven servings of a different Japanese tea, changing every month. Use my code YVR through the link in my bio for a discount on your first box. Who would you share a Japanese tea break with? Thank you @sakuraco for sponsoring this little autumn escape. . . https://team.sakura.co/yvrretro . . #ad #sakuraco #japansnack #sakai #autumninjapan by @yvr_retro
Shinsekai is one of the few tourist spots I’d happily go back to. It feels like an old-school fair: arcades, carnival games, oversized signs, and some overpriced food. Somehow, that’s all part of the appeal. It’s touristy, but it still has character. You can wander into an arcade, play a few games, and lose an evening walking around looking at everything. Fun during the day, but I’d pick after dark. These are a few shots from my last night out there. 📍Shinsekai, Osaka . . . #shinsekainights #shinsekai #osakanightlife #osaka #osakanights by @yvr_retro

The Dragon Ball store at Tokyo Station is pretty lit 🐉🔥 The first time I went to Tokyo Station I was blown away; The level of dining, shopping, and convenience all tucked away underground, it felt like its own functioning city to me 😂 Had to take some snaps of the store, the nostalgia of Dragon Ball Z hitting my region in the 90s is heavy. Only in Japan can going to catch a train turn into browsing Dragon Ball merch next to life sized Goku statues 😂 What’s the best thing you’ve stumbled across inside a Japanese train station? . . . #dragonballz #dragonballstore #dragonball #tokyostation #animestore by @yvr_retro
Happy 38th Birthday to the og Japanese Sega Mega Drive 🥳 The most aesthetically pleasing version on the Genesis console imho What was your first Sega game? . . . #megadrive #sega #segamegadrive #segaforever #segagames by @yvr_retro
Is this a sign we’ve gone too far? 🐚🦀 The biggest hermit crab I’ve ever seen was living out of a bottle cap for his shell on the beach in Okinawa. Is this a normal sight or a sign of the times that our ocean pollution has gone too far? . . . #hermitcrab #oceancleanup #onnaokinawa #okinawa #okinawajapan by @yvr_retro
