By lifeguards, for life is not just a slogan. @thelifeguardproject is happy to introduce a hand selected crew of First Out Team Operators.

Guards that have contributed to the project already, and who have showed their skills in lifeguarding and media work.

It is this foundation which allows us to push the limits of representing lifeguarding appropriately and enhancing the public perception through storytelling.

My name is Zaca Leatherwood, I became a lifeguard to be closer to the ocean. Fresh out of High School I got interested in photographing portraits and surfing, fast forward to now and I shoot wedding portraits in Humboldt county and work as a surf photographer in Indonesia in the off season. My favorite aspect of the creative process is the power to evoke and craft emotion.
