“Believe & Breathe, And Play With Trains!!!”

There are fewer places you will ever get me to walk into where I will be as giddy as I can be in a model railroad club.
Collect the cards, play with the trains, whatever you do, make your inner nerd and child happy. They’ll thank you for it. ❤️🚂🤘
P.S.: Perhaps we should call this “A Tale Of Two ‘As’”, eh?……ok, I’ll see myself out. 😂

Want to know why I love this hobby? Watch this.
No A.C. Traction, no 12 computers, just two old EMD GPs thrown on the point of a hefty road freight, underpowered as hell, and facing a 1% grade on the run out of Milwaukee. And they still won the fight. On their hands and knees straining against gravity, 32 cylinders, 5,000 horsepower, D.C. Traction, and nearly 60 years of service won the battle, in the most iconic way.
Catch em while you can, because eventually, they’ll be gone. ❤️🚂🤘

“Santa Fe All The Way”

It may be a bit of a far cry from the 70 mph intermodal trains she was designed to hustle between Chicagoland and the West Coast, but that red and silver “Warbonnet” paint still has the same effect it always did. Beautifully restored by @railroadingheritage, ATSF 537 made her excursion debut at the end of September, the GE B40-8W putting on a clinic from Silvis IL to Bureau Junction and back, and not once looking like she’s already over three decades old. Squint your eyes and imagine hard enough, and it may just be that the Santa Fe never vanished into a fallen flag…
To all those @railroadingheritage who saw this fantastic restoration through, Thank You! Long may you roll old girl! “Santa Fe All The Way” indeed!!! ❤️🤘

“(Grey) Ghost Of The Milwaukee Road”

53 Years after she rolled out of EMD, Milwaukee Road GP38-2 354 returned to the rails where she started her career. She might be Kansas City Southern 2022 now and clad in grey and yellow, but make no mistake, there is Milwaukee orange and black under there. Funny then, how some things change, some stay the same, and so much comes full circle. 🤘

“Believe & Breathe…And Chase The Trains!!!”

And you wonder why the Santa Fe will always be one of my favorite railroads. From her shimmering red and silver “Warbonnet” paint to her iconic Leslie RS3L horn, ATSF 537 owned her debut excursion. Worth a three hour drive and a chase halfway across Illinois and back?……hey, “Santa Fe All The Way” baby!!! ❤️

@amberglenniceskater, see? Railfans are nerds too!!! 😂🤘

“The Rainbow Warrior”

It was the flames that did it for me. As a kid into NASCAR, that iconic bright red over sparking blue on a Gen 4 Chevy Monte Carlo was what sold me on Jeff Gordon in 2001/2002. Little did I know then he was already a legend, and by the time hung up the helmet after 23 years, he would have cemented himself as not just one of the greatest drivers in NASCAR history, but one of the greatest drivers to race in any series in Motorsport, period.
4 Championships, 5 Brickyard 400’s, 6 Southern 500’s, 4 Talladega 500’s, 3 Daytona 500’s, 3 Coca-Cola 600’s, 3 All-Star Race’s, 93 wins across NASCAR’s Top Division in total. And that is just the win column (strictly in NASCAR btw).
Few, if any, will ever surpass what he accomplished in the drivers seat. And those who do will have had him as one of their driving idols, same as I have all this time. So when @imsmuseum announced their exhibit of several of Jeff’s cars, equipment, and personal mementos…..if you didn’t think we weren’t taking the time to swing in to Indianapolis and pay homage (Labor Day Weekend), you don’t know us very well. #jeffgordon #nascar #indianapolismotorspeedway #imsmuseum #racing

I have so much to say, it will never be condensed down into one post, so let’s start with these two automobiles here. “Jeff’s Firsts” let’s call them. Two 1994 Chevrolet Luminas from his Junior Year at NASCAR’s top level. The first (this one) he scored his first Cup Win in; the Coca-Cola 600 at that. The longest, toughest race on NASCAR’s schedule, and Jeff and @rayevernham won it on a gamble; taking two tires on their last pit stop to leapfrog the field and hanging on for the final 20 laps to win it all. #jeffgordon #nascar #indianapolismotorspeedway #imsmuseum #racing

Barely two months later, NASCAR would race at Indianapolis for the very first time, and the “Rainbow Warrior” himself would lead the most laps of the day (93) and snatch the lead for the last time after one of Ernie Irvan’s tires gave up the ghost four laps from the finish. #jeffgordon #nascar #indianapolismotorspeedway #imsmuseum #racing

Fitting then, that such a car to win such a prestigious race would be named “Booger”, isn’t it? # by @zach.kaye45x

“13 To 1”
13 Locomotives, 1 Freight Train?……Yeah, you don’t see that every day! Was a 50 mile chase across the state necessary?……No, but was it worth it?……Every time. 😁
48 Hours, 3 great trains, 3 great chases…….yeah, I’m happy! 😂🤘

“Fast Flying 40”

Seems like every time we finally put this “off the table”, CP goes “Nope!” and brings it right back! An EMD SD40-2, 45 Years Young, making the round trip from the Twin Cities down to Chicago and back on 248 & 249. Proving in the face of computerization and A.C. Traction she can still get shit done! (The KCS SD70MAC she’s paired with gets a pass, thank you very much!) And complete right down to her original brass bell mounted ahead of the cab!
CP 6024, built March 1981, right back where she was intended to be; up front and movin’!!!
