Crafted to last, designed to inspire.

When Steven first discovered Zafi on Instagram, it was our commitment to sustainability that caught his eye. Originally planning to celebrate his retirement in three years with a custom build, our technical conversations sparked a shared vision—one he decided was simply too good to wait for.

Working across the Atlantic from the US, we collaborated closely to refine every detail. Steven’s goal was clear: a cohesive, understated, and versatile bike built to seamlessly conquer the roads and trails right outside his front door. Nothing over the top—just pure, intentional craftsmanship ready for the journey ahead. Why wait for tomorrow’s miles when the road is calling today?

🚲 Toute cette semaine, dans notre séquence PME sur Antipode, Thomas reçoit Simon Malvaux, fondateur de @zafi.cycles ! 🔵🔴

Installé à Limal, Simon a fait du vélo bien plus qu'un moyen de déplacement : une véritable passion et aujourd'hui, le cœur de son entreprise. 🇧🇪🚴

Avec Zafi Cycles, il imagine et fabrique des vélos en bois, artisanaux, durables et pensés pour proposer une autre manière de concevoir le cycle. 🌳🚲

Une aventure née notamment d'un constat : pourquoi un objet associé à la mobilité durable devrait-il parcourir la moitié du monde avant de rouler sur nos routes ? Simon a donc choisi de travailler autour de matériaux locaux et durables, avec le bois comme élément central de ses créations.

De son tour de l'Amérique latine à vélo à la création de sa propre entreprise dans le Brabant wallon, Simon nous raconte toute cette semaine son parcours, sa vision et les ambitions de Zafi Cycles. 💙❤️

Last week, Dimitri , a pediatric infectious disease specialist at @cliniques_saint_luc , completed his journey across Europe. 🚲

A slightly crazy project where cycling met science.

Setting off from Thessaloniki at the end of March, he rode all the way to Stockholm before returning to Belgium, covering more than 4,000 km on a Zafi Roots bike built in our workshop... just a few miles from his home.

In every country he crossed, Dimitri gave a talk on antimicrobial resistance to raise awareness and support the Njilabo Project. The project's goal is to establish a high-quality microbiology laboratory in Mbuji-Mayi, DR Congo, helping to improve the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases.

We're incredibly proud to have played a small part in this adventure.

Dimitri is one of those people who inspires others without ever trying to. Through his humility, generosity, and determination, he reminds us that the most meaningful projects are those that put our passions in the service of others.

A wooden bike built for a round the world ride. When I first came across Zafi Cycles I knew immediately that this was the bike for this adventure. Not just because of how it looks – but because of what it stands for. Something unique, something handcrafted, something that would start conversations on the road. And it has done exactly that from day one.

But it’s more than just a frame. Every component has been chosen for a reason and every gram accounted for. This didn’t happen overnight and it certainly didn’t happen alone. The brands below believed in this project before it even started and I’ll be forever grateful for that.

Il y a des remises de vélo qui ont une saveur particulière. 🤝🚲

Samedi, j’ai eu le plaisir d’accueillir @gilkinetgeorges à l’atelier pour lui remettre son nouveau vélo : un Zafi Roots en noyer noir.

Pendant quatre ans à la tête du ministère fédéral de la #Mobilité, il a défendu une vision où le vélo occupe une place centrale dans nos déplacements. Le voir repartir sur un de nos vélos gravels a donc quelque chose de particulièrement symbolique. 🇧🇪🌱

Parce qu’au-delà des politiques publiques, le changement se construit aussi à travers des choix personnel! Choisir le vélo, c’est adopter une autre façon de vivre ses déplacements.
Ce nouveau vélo sera une source de liberté, de découverte et de plaisir. Un moyen de ralentir, de prendre le temps et de renouer avec les paysages qui nous entourent.🌳

Merci Georges pour votre confiance et pour ce beau moment d’échange.

Ce sont ces rencontres qui me rappellent pourquoi j’ai créé Zafi : fabriquer, localement, des vélos qui donnent envie de pédaler davantage et de contribuer, chacun à notre échelle, à une mobilité plus durable. 🤝🚲

Join us for a special evening at @zafi.cycles before @cycling_tom sets off to cycle around the world.

Tom and Simon will be sharing the story behind the project and how a handcrafted wooden bike, built in Belgium, is about to take him on the biggest adventure of his life.

Following his own experience with a heart condition, Tom will also talk about why he is using this journey to raise funds and awareness for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).

The evening will include a short presentation, Q&A, drinks and, for anyone interested, an optional tour of the workshop where it all began.
