The Caribbean diaspora is being invited back home.

Come Home was MY biggest takeaway from the CARIBBEAN CANADIAN INVESTMENT SUMMIT & TRADE FORUM held last weekend in Toronto.

The message was echoed by nearly every Caribbean nation, direct from their government representatives, come home. In my case, come back home. Your expertise, perspective and love of country are needed.

There was off course much more discussed re: The Orange economy, inviting investment through land purchase and such. I will discuss those parts more over at Substack but this invite to "Come Home" will resound until I actually get there. Soon come.

There's just something about fall...over here in Canada. It's time for slow Sundays, slow simmered broths, baking, reading, lighting candles, fall walks, warm drinks and meals that take time and care. The 'comfy cozy' season is upon us!!

Let's rewind to soca monarch a bit, this transition by Snakey from presentation video to stage entrance was sooo good! This part of monarch is a space to display creativity and bring even more storytelling into the performance and context to your song, entertain the crowd. This was top 3 in my book.

The others being

2. Stay tuned to my next post
3. 'Lion Paw' pre-performance video presentation which was basically the "Piccong" before the actual piccong.

The monarch competitions are so important for the arts. @spicemasgrenada has the best Soca and Groovy Monarch by far so make it a point to attend monarch competitions when you visit other island Carnivals. It makes for a culturally richer experience to be enjoyed with locals.

- Pan competions
- King and Queen of the Bands- @carnivalsaintlucia presentations this year were A+
- Calypso Monarch
- Soca and Groovy Monarchs
