In 2025, Zart Studios partnered with the U.S. Water Alliance to design and install the Dock Slips exhibition for the One Water Summit at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh.

Our multidisciplinary team—Sarah Zeffiro, Britney Smith, and Myles Geyman—blended art, design, engineering, and education to create sustainable, imaginative spaces where hundreds of national water leaders could gather, connect, and collaborate.

The Dock Slips featured eight custom interactive environments, each envisioned as a welcoming “living room.” Ranging from 10’x10’ to 10’x18’, these spaces incorporated seating, original artwork, design details, sustainable materials, and participatory learning components. More than meeting areas, they became places to record ideas, exchange stories, and shape shared visions for change.

Delegations engaging with the Dock Slips included the Reservoir Center, Water Equity and Climate Resilience (WECR) Caucus, Tap Into Resilience, Center for Water Security and Cooperation, Delta (Frontline + Emerging Leaders), Don’t Water It Down, Black Water Professional Alliance, and the Minnesota Delegation.

Through this project, Zart Studios emphasized the power of art and design to support collaboration around water equity, climate resilience, and community well-being—transforming exhibition spaces into hubs where conversation turned into action. by @zartstudios

It was great to welcome Tom Sarver to the studio, curator of the our upcoming exhibit Out of Body at the Irma Freeman Center for Imagination. I am excited to debut the latest large-scale abstract paintings that push the physicality of art making through the joy and exuberance of marks and symbols. The show opens Friday, November 6, and runs through January 16, 2027.

"Out of Body is a show of four Pittsburgh artists who approach the title theme from different directions... Out of Body has roots in the recent publication, Pittsburgh’s Avant-Garde: 60 Years Inside the Underground Art Scene, by Sheila Ali, which featured work by Tom Sarver and Sarah Zeffiro. It continues the avant-garde spirit of that project and brings new voices, David Montano and Martiza Mosquera, into the conversation. A tribute to Sheila Ali, longtime curator and director of programs at the Irma Freeman Center of Imagination, will be part of the exhibition. Save the date for the Long, Long, Art Party a free, family-friendly community event will be held on Saturday, November 14th from 11am to 3pm."

I am happy to share the exhibit preview of Out of Body opening Friday, November 6, from 6:00–9:00 p.m during Unblurred: First Fridays on Penn Avenue. The arts bring life to life. I am grateful for the opportunity to exhibit alongside fellow friends and artists. “Irma Freeman Center for Imagination will be presenting a special project organized by artist Tom Sarver. Out of Body is a show of four Pittsburgh artists who approach the title theme from different directions. Maritza Mosquera creates visceral images that allude to one’s inner and outer connection to living, both physically and spiritually. Sarah Zeffiro creates large-scale abstract paintings that push the physicality of art making with the joy and exuberance of mark and symbol. Tom Sarver delves deep into the mind to render images of Pittsburgh arts experiences in specific time and place. David Montano’s conceptual approach often begins with the finding of a cherished artifact of the past, then responding with a work that contemplates the life of the original owner. It continues the avant-garde spirit of that project and brings new voices, Montano and Mosquera, into the conversation. A tribute to Sheila Ali, longtime curator and director of programs at the Irma Freeman Center of Imagination, will be part of the exhibition. Save the date for SPECIAL DAYTIME EVENT! Long, Long, Art Party. In the spirit of the exhibition, a free, family-friendly community event will be held on Saturday, November 14th from 11am to 3pm. The exhibition artists will be on hand to work collaboratively with guests to create art in the gallery. Art supplies and refreshments will be provided. Feel free to bring your own found objects to transform.” by @zartstudios

The Arts bring life to life! We recently celebrated the closing of Everything Was Due Yesterday with a panel conversation moderated by Amy Bowman-McElhone, featuring myself, Britney Smith, Emily Paige Armstrong, and Lucia Riffel. The theme of the exhibition speaks to the reality of maintaining a creative practice within fragmented time and institutional demands. The conversation included how we sustain our art practices and creative energy, reflections on the symbolism and storytelling within the art, and our shared connections to Carlow University. I appreciated the opportunity to be in the gallery with the artists while speaking to students, colleagues, and friends. Participating in Everything Was Due Yesterday and integrating the CU Art Gallery within my spring semester have been highlights of 2026! A warm thank you to Amy Bowman-McElhone, the gallery interns, @britneysmithceramics, @artbyemilypaige, @luciariffel, @fcflaherty, Cat Armstrong, Justin Mazzei, @desiree_marie_m, @art_mosquera, @lindseypeckscherloum, and @mylesgeyman. @carloweduc @carlowartdesign by @zartstudios

Updates from @carlow_gallery 🎨

Everything Was Due Yesterday, a faculty, adjunct and alumni exhibit. As artist and educators, it’s been absolutely joyful to welcome classes into the gallery for learning, thinking, and making. Each experience is tailored to connect directly to classes and coursework, bringing arts learning to life. As faculty and a longtime museum educator, it’s so meaningful to share with students how we investigate and research, plan, create, iterate, and present works of art.

The faculty exhibition continues to offer a powerful opportunity to engage our classes and the broader community. The month of March with @carloweduc and @carlowartdesign has been especially energizing. Thank you to Art Gallery Director, Dr. Amy Bowman McElhone, Program Director of Art & Design, Britney Smith, and Program Director of Secondary Education, Sean Freeland. Experiential learning is one of the many ways @carlowuniversity demonstrates a commitment to academics, arts education, and creative expression. 💜🎨 by @zartstudios

So proud to finish the artwork, Stewardship. I’ve been developing the design since June and it’s incredible to bring it to life. I am so happy and proud of the style, scale and techniques. Stewardship explores my personal connection between art, learning, and cultivating personal growth. Stewardship is part of an upcoming faculty exhibition @carlow_gallery. Expand boundaries 💜. #makeart by @zartstudios
