The music of Samoa took center stage at the Moana World Premiere 🇦🇸🔰🐓🇼🇸

During the taualuga at Disney’s Moana World Premiere at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, California, two cherished Samoan songs filled the venue: Vi’i o Falealili and Ta’ū Manu’a.

1. Falealili Uma
2. Loloma le Tai o Alo

The cultural presentation was assembled by Tiana Liufau and Kayla Fa’amaligi, who also appointed Isaiah Mauga as Music Director for this special performance. Tama’ita’i dressed Seiuli Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Catherine Laga’aia, bringing Maui and Moana to life through beautifully crafted Pacific attire.

Representing both Samoa and American Samoa, these songs carried generations of culture, pride, and identity onto a global stage, reminding audiences that our music is more than performance. It is history, storytelling, and home.

For many in our community, hearing these songs performed at such a historic moment made the celebration even more meaningful.

From the islands to Hollywood, our voices continue to be heard. 🌀🌍🌊🌺 taken in Los Angeles, California by @zayafaalogo

You loved Easter. Your life was based around telling people that Jesus died and rose again so we can have eternal life. I’m reminded daily that there is life beyond the grave. Another holiday without you and it still hurts. I Praise God for the hope of heaven! We miss you so much, Dad. Especially now. Love you always Rev! taken in Heaven by @zayafaalogo

I first saw uncle Toa play at a wedding when I was 16 years old. I’ll never forget because the band he was playing with was fireee. I then got to jam with him a few times at Newhope Assembly of God. Little did I know I’d later be on the same stage with him when joining @tupua_productions. He was a musical genius and could make any instrument sing. His ear was so good he could hear your thoughts. I’ll miss learning from you Unk. Every single time we played he taught me something new. His knowledge of Samoan music was out of this world. He’s played with many greats including Penina O Tiafau, the Anivas, Jerome Grey and many more. Now Unk, you’re playing for the greatest of them all. I thank God for your life. I’m just one of the many you’ve blessed. Save me a song and I’ll see you when I get there! I love you forever 😔
