On Friday, November 6, we’re hosting our 2nd Annual Friendsgiving Link Up in #AsburyPark

Last year was a great time, and this year we’re looking to build on that. Good people, good conversations, and an opportunity to connect with professionals from different backgrounds. I’m also putting together some games and activities to make the evening a little more interactive and memorable.

And we’re connecting for a bigger purpose! We’re asking everybody to bring non-perishable food items that will be donated to local families in need this Thanksgiving season.

You DO NOT have to be a member of a Divine Nine organization to attend! This is a professional networking event open to everybody. Come meet some new people, reconnect with some familiar faces, and enjoy yourself.

Today is the LAST DAY to register to vote in New Jersey for the November midterm elections!

If you’re on my timeline and haven’t registered yet, take a few minutes and get it done today. Follow the directions in the graphic.

Republican, Democrat, Independent—I don’t care what your party affiliation is. What matters is that you’re registered and have an opportunity to make your voice heard.

From the local level—school boards, mayors, and municipal government—to state legislatures and the federal government, the people we elect make decisions that impact our everyday lives.

Elections have consequences! And those consequences extend well beyond whoever occupies the White House.

Don’t sit on the sidelines. Make sure you’re in the game so your voice can be heard.

Should Black activists, especially those from the middle class, be expected to send their own children to failing schools that predominantly serve Black children to try to improve those systems from within? Or are we obligated to do what’s best for our children and families first before trying to save our people? Great article in today’s New York Times by Nikole Hannah-Jones (author of The 1619 Project), who sent her daughter to a low-performing NYC school even though she could afford to send her daughter to a high-performing private school. Shoutout to @vh3cfp for putting me on to this by @zayevreday

We all need an intellectual palate cleansing from time to time. After concluding my #BlackAugust reading group earlier tonight with some amazing minds, I’m reminded of how valuable it is to build with deep thinkers who enlighten or challenge you. What better way to do that than around a critically acclaimed piece of literature or well-researched article?

Big difference from getting info from an influencer, your algorithm, or AI. We are fast moving into a space of #AntiIntellectualism and #CognitiveSurrender (look it up) because of AI. We have to stay sharp.

Today is my queen’s day… Happy birthday to my beautiful wife! We’ve spent the past 11 birthdays together, and today is easily one of my favorite holidays lol.
