Happy Project Hail Mary month to all who celebrate.
Starting a buddy read today in the run up to the movie being released on the 20th. I have tickets to the local IMAX premiere on the 13th and I couldn’t be more excited. Do I have PHM clothing on the way to wear? YOU BETCHA!
I promise one day I’ll stop talking about this book, but it won’t be anytime soon!!

Life is complete!!! Thank you @chriscarterbooksofficial for being the nicest man on bookstagram, and taking the time to speak to literally EVERYONE on Saturday night. You made my day, week and year!
Hands down my favourite long running book series, of which book one I already treasured is now signed and dedicated. These books are really fucked up and they appeal to me endlessly. Hunter and Garcia are the best duo there is. Please never stop writing about psychos and giving me weird things to talk about with my husband! YOU DA BEST.

#SUNDAYSHELFIE
Short quick post from me on this miserable gloomy Sunday to try brighten up your feed. I’ve needed to upgrade my shelves for so long, my old ones were too small and they were bowing very badly. Quick trip to ikea and I secured the goods. I’ll probably tweak these this week as I see some bits I want to move but I’m happy with how they look.
Now what to read next?! #zeroshelfcontrol #bookshelvesofinstagram #shelfiesunday #bookstagram #rainbowshelves #tbrisoutofcontrol #tbr by @zeroshelfcontrol

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Synopsis:
Jay Gardiner has given himself a fool’s errand—to find the remains of his deceased father in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of California. He knows it’s a long shot, but Jay feels it’s the only way for him to lift the weight of guilt he has carried since his dad’s death the previous year.

The dive begins well enough, but the sudden appearance of a giant squid puts Jay in very real jeopardy, made infinitely worse by the arrival of a sperm whale looking to feed. Suddenly, Jay is caught in the squid’s tentacles and drawn into the whale’s mouth where he is pulled into the first of its four stomachs. He quickly realizes he has only one hour before his oxygen tanks run out - one hour to defeat his demons and escape the belly of a whale.

Review:
Now I’m going to start by saying it will be a hard task to find a book where ‘sphincter’ is used more 🤣
I loved everything about this book, and it was more than just a race against time. We see a volatile relationship between father and son, where snippets of life over the last 17 years give us a bigger picture of where things went wrong between them.

I’m an absolute sucker though, for a story where science and logic are a big part of getting out of a perilous situation. This is a similar story in terms of that to The Martian, Project Hail Mary, 127 Hours, Drowning, Falling and Eruption. Nearly all of these books have been 5 stars from me and when people now say what is your favourite genre, the answer is anxiety driven thrillers, with people in peril. Catchy right?! If you have any more books with end of the world style stories where people must overcome situations to survive, please rec me!!!!

Half way check in!!

So we’re half way through our emotional support group readalong hosted by @instabooktours for the 3 book showdown from @rebeccayarros

No tears yet, but we’ve stopped on an epic cliff hanger. I’ll hold my judgement on the book as a whole until the end, but it’s not got me by the heartstrings like The Last Letter did just yet!

I had to come and take a picture of this book at my local WWII RAF airbase, it seemed only right!

Are you a sucker for a tear jerker book? Or do you want your reads less emotional?

🩷BOOKMAIL🩷
I received this pink package of joy (actually it’s more tears, heartache and trauma) from @instabooktours as part of the epic @rebeccayarros emotional support group readalong happening later this month. There’s 3 books as part of the campaign and you’ll have to follow my stories in the next couple of weeks to see which one is going to break me piece by piece!! Thank you @bantambooksuk @books.afterhours for the package, the tissues are very appreciated!!

⭐️ AUGUST TBR ⭐️
Now I never do a whole months TBR but I want to see if I can hold myself to read as many of these as I can. I got a lot of challenges I’m falling behind with and a few of these fit the bill. What I’m reading and how they fit:

⭐️Redeeming 6 - Chloe Walsh : a buddy read with @molly_simmsss (I have the physical but it’s at my mums)
⭐️The Woman From Bookclub - Carrie Hughes : August pick for @bookandpuddingyattendon and also ticks off this months Buzzword for club/group in title
⭐️ The Pumpkin Spice Cafe - Laurie Gilmore : Gumball prompt of door on the cover and G in author name
⭐️ Punk 57 - Penelope Douglas : #gramgirlsbookclub pick for this month (it was my pick 🥳)
⭐️ The Tattooist of Auschwitz - Heather Morris: @yorkshire_born_and_bookish pick for me as my gumball prompt
⭐️ The Death Cure - James Dashner : series continuation
⭐️ Eeny Meeny - MJ Arlidge : monthly buddy read pick with @hannaho_030_
⭐️ The Wedding Party - Cathy Kelly : a chapter a day and a wedding present from @beccajbooks so reading to coincide with my 3rd wedding anniversary (better late than never)
⭐️ When I Was Ten - Fiona Cummins : buzzword cover pick for damage on the cover
⭐️ How to Be A Footballer - Peter Crouch : buzzword for occupation in the title

And that’s it, wish me luck I’m gunna need it!!!

DONT SHOUT AT ME!!!! Yes I know I’m extremely late to the party with these, I’m a bad reader and I hold my hands up. GUILTY AS CHARGED.
I’ll get to these guys at some point soon, but my question to you is, who should you have read by now? Any mega authors you’re embarrassed to say you haven’t picked up yet?
I do own books by all these authors, and as we know, collecting books and reading books are two completely different hobbies.
