Wow 🤩 Absolute gratitude to @saundra_alexis_heath @mmpcia
@heathgallery @partnershipsforparks
@cpfnyc @summerstage ✨🫶🏾

It’s taken a few days for me to really digest “We’re Outside” + all the beautiful perspectives and conversations about my work. It was so fun to connect with my fellow artists & Figure Art Lovers who admire intricate details and shading.

The experience was enlightening and enthralling to my senses. It was such a full circle moment to exhibit at the Charlie Parker Jazz Festival in Marcus Garvey Park where I used to run around & play as a child. As this was my first outdoor exhibition, engaging with such a diverse audience expanded me in ways that I did not expect.

🥹🤗🎥Thank you to my family and friends who came out to support me and acknowledge me especially capturing footage of my art chats in action.

👏🏾Saturday, August 29th was one for the books! 📚

Spent a beautiful afternoon in studio with @zin_vizion for my “Our ____” series 🖌️

I got chills recording Zindzi’s interview because her words felt like echoes in my own mind. An affirmation to be fearless in allowing life itself to guide you through your artistry and purpose. ✨

Our Inner Peace.

Thank you for sharing the essence of being an artist. Our power. For expanding the narrative on what it means to be an artist and drawing a space in which we live in abundance rather than struggle and lack. Where peace shows confidence. And risk becomes inner-knowing. Thank you for sharing that following your dreams can be pre-destined, but also a choice we make each day. It’s a discipline. And a celebration of who we are 💛

Why the monochromatic era?

I’ve always loved the simplicity of charcoal & I respect it as a strong medium to focus on the details of my figures.

Once upon a time, I thought my charcoal works needed to be accentuated by saturated color.

Yet this medium is both symbolic and intentional. Derived from burnt wood - charcoal represents our similarities to nature - the ability to change, grow, and evolve.

I am pursuing the subtle inflections of form and light with undiminished rigor.

This is exactly why I came to Florida to have the water right in my backyard. Super hype to continue exploring this tropical landscape & all my friends are welcome to join me!

Healthy Spine, Healthy Mind
🌀Sufi Rolls (aka seated spinal circles) are the easiest desk-friendly move to release tension and reset your body + mind.

You can activate these moves sitting everywhere:
1️⃣Sit tall, feet grounded
2️⃣Hands rest on thighs
3️⃣Inhale, circle chest forward
4️⃣Exhale, roll back + round spine
5️⃣Switch directions, smooth + steady

✨ 1–2 minutes in your seat = less tension, more clarity
