Your website should be your hardest working team member.

It even oooooozes personality (lovely copy, sure).

But it isn’t generating consistent revenue, attracting the right clients, or doing the work you need it to do.

I feel a bit sick posting this!

Not because I’m not proud of them. But because numbers without context don’t really mean much.

This post isn’t about showing off (if that’s coming up for you...I understand! But genuinely...it’s actually about showing you THE REAL RESULTS of this kind of work)

And really...it’s about showing you why I’m so passionate about website strategy — because no, it’s never been just about the copy.

For a long time, I thought I had to be “the words girl.”

So that’s what I talked about.
Copywriting.
Copywriting.
Copywriting.

But despite looooving writing (always have!), the thing that’s always come most naturally to me is seeing the bigger picture.

How your website comes together to WORK HARD
Positioning.
Messaging.
Offer strategy.
SEO.
User journeys.
User experience.

How every part of a website works together to help someone make a decision.

When I finally stopped shrinking that part of myself and fully leaned into it, EVERYTHING changed.

Certainly not overnight (this is my 8th year in business, after all!). But steadily, strategically, and in a way that’s completely transformed my business.

Those results have given me more than big money + revenue months. They’ve given me breathing room.
Financial security.
The confidence to invest back into my business. Gosh, this is SO important!
The excitement of hiring the right support (other incredible women!)
The freedom to build a life I genuinely love. 3pm pick up today and paddling pool later with my son! Love it.
The ability to treat my mum to a weekend away because I can.

That’s what the numbers represent to me. And I’m sharing this because I want to be transparent about that — I know it matters to you, too.

😮‍💨 I’ve been having a lot of the same conversation. It keeps coming up — and it is actually a real BUG BEAR for website pros (me included!). And I think it’s about time we talk about it openly.

Here’s the scenario. A founder invests in a new website. They find an incredible designer. They’re ready to go. £5k budget. SO EXCITING.

And then, somehow, their website designer ends up being expected to figure out...well, pretty much everything.

And this is where I see a £££££ gap appear in SO many website projects.

The designer is ready to design. The founder is ready to get started. But some of the most important strategic decisions behind the website...haven’t actually been made yet. 😥

And unless you’ve specifically invested in a full-service option, it’s not your website designer’s job to figure all of that out for you.🤍

*Important note! That’s not me diminishing designers. Quite the opposite. I work with some INCREDIBLE ones. But positioning, messaging, conversion strategy, SEO *and* copy? They’re not automatically part of website design.*
