I seem to be pretty rubbish at recording my process lately - there’s been a lot going on, and to be honest when I’m working on a print, I prefer just to crack on! But here’s a few snaps of my latest reduction print as a Work In Progress.

For those unfamiliar with this technique, you use one single block of lino, you carve away what you want to keep white and then print your lightest colour. Then carve away what you want to keep the colour you’ve just printed, then apply the next lightest colour…and so on to build up the colours and textures. Super fun, exciting way to work - as you never know how it’s going to turn out until you get to the very end 😬

Really happy to share the reduction linocut print that I’ve been working on most recently. I made this as a commission for a lovely friend’s big birthday.
It’s of a place in Spain, called El Torcal de Antequera which was originally a seabed in the Jurassic age and then the rocks and landscape have been shaped by ice thawing and water over the years. I really loved making this one - if you visited during @devonopenstudios last month, this is what I had in progress 💚

It’s a small edition of just 5 (the first is already gone). Approx 20 x 30cm on Somerset 300g. I’ve called it “Your mountain is waiting, so…Get on your way” from the Dr Suess’s “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!”

I’ll post some process shots over the next couple of days.

Really looking forward to heading down to Topsham (Exeter) next Sunday for Ink Paper + Print fair - it’s my first time exhibiting, the line up looks so good and I can’t wait to see all the print goods!

Excited to be part of Under the Tree again this year at MAKE Southwest. Spent a lovely morning delivering work last weekend, with my daughter - we really enjoyed their current exhibition, including the printmaking, and she loved spotting ceramics by her Granny (Eleanor Bartleman) ♥️
Can’t wait to see Under the Tree which opens on 24th October and runs until the New Year.

Excited to be taking part in @supersecondsfestival next weekend - 3rd and 4th of October! For those that don’t know, this is the UK’s biggest online seconds and samples sale. Over 250 independent makers are taking part, selling samples, misprints or end of line stock at discounted prices. Product listings go live at 10am on Saturday 3rd October, but you can already head over to the Super Seconds website to check out the list of makers taking part this time round.

What will I have on offer?! Why linocut prints of course! I’ll have at least one “second/test print” of nearly every print on my website, including my landscapes, garden birds and catty fish tank prints.
