๐Ÿ’งBODIES OF WATER๐Ÿ’งTALKS NOW LIVE ๐Ÿ’ง

We are thrilled to share the highly requested recordings of our 'Bodies of Water' public program series. Led by Associate Professor Zoeฬˆ Sadokierski, the program was presented in parallel with the exhibition 'A river runs through' by Spence Messih.

'Bodies of Water' brought together researchers, students, educators and the public to explore the relationships between bodies, waterways, place and Country through conversation, storytelling, and creative workshops. We hope the program offered meaningful opportunities for learning, dialogue, and deepening engagement with the entangled systems that shape our worlds.

We extend our thanks to Jason Benedek and the UTS Production team and the Faculty of Design & Society for making these recordings available.

Watch now via links in bio.

Behind the scenes for an essay on the @powerhousemuseumโ€™s Maralinga clock, papier-maฬ‚cheฬ mushroom models, eucalyptus tree samples and other objects drawn together by a literal or metaphorical connection to Australiaโ€™s nuclear history. Link in bio and:
https://powerhouse.com.au/stories/minutes-and-millennia-the-maralinga-souvenir-clock

Images here are from a trip to the Castle Hill storage facility in late 2024 with @jemmabirrell and the encyclopaedic @matthewconnell4

Spending time with the objects โ€” observing, sketching and, where permitted, handling โ€” deeply informed my writing. From noticing hand written marks on the back of the clock to being unexpectedly moved by the tree samples in deep, crazy-cold storage, encountering the objects โ€˜in the fleshโ€™ was a vastly different process than desktop research. Itโ€™s always worth investing time in site visits. taken in Powerhouse Castle Hill by @zoesado
