This is the day I have dreaded since the day you were born on 7/11/13. I’ve always known that I would have to get through this suffering without getting to hold on to you, without getting to breathe you in while I wrap my body around yours to catch my breath. It feels like this is the moment you were preparing me for, so that I could stand on my own and feel this loss without you by my side to put me back together again. You have brought me endless amounts of laughter, love, devotion and protection. You pushed me to be a better person in every way and I truly don’t know if I would be here today without you taking care of me. Thank you for showing me that my potential to love has no bounds. I will always love you fearlessly and with reckless abandon. You are the coolest, bravest part of me and I hope that I can go on to make you proud of me. In retrospect getting you at 20 years old was insane, but it will always be the best decision I ever made. I promised you that I wouldn’t be selfish and I would let you go with grace when your body decided it was time. I’m so sorry I wasn’t there to hold you while you took your final breath. I know you would want me to be kind to myself in this moment, but it’s hard knowing I’ll never get to feel your warmth or be comforted by your smell again. It was an honor getting to watch you grow as you are the great love of my life, my soulmate and I know that someday my stardust will mix with your stardust again. You are the best thing that is, was, or ever will be. We were meant to be, Django and mommy forever. Thank you for the best 11 years of my life and for loving me when I didn’t know how to love myself. You will always walk by my side my little trouble maker.
