No it’s not that he requires more walks/exercise. He is not, nor has he ever, been a go do things kind of dog. He has brave moments, but he is a very timid and easily startled dog due to his past. The mental and physical stimulation he gets at home is all he can handle. And he has other health issues to consider.

The belief is it is due to age and something cognitive going on. We will be talking with his vet further about it. For now a basket muzzle (which he is trained with so it doesn’t stress him at all) when he isn’t in the bedroom.

While Hawthorne and VSS have been wonderful the times we have needed them for emergencies, I knew the concept of @vegerforpets and if he needed surgery, I wanted us to be able to be right there. Luckily induced vomiting did the trick.

I have friends that needed VEG for emergencies and they had a wonderful experience. I can definitely say we did as well. Everyone was caring and kind. Zak himself was actually just a normal amount of dog stress than the pancake dog stress that he typically would do. He’s only good/not freaked out at our regular vet.

I see complaints about VEG being pricy. The veterinary field in general isn’t cheap. For them to provide the services they do and HOW they do, it requires a lot. Did I just spend $500 for Zak to puke in a basin? Yes. Because I had the peace of mind that he would never leave our sight. And that we were part of the process, which for a dog like Zak is extra important.

Little moments are big for them. Zak and Hunny were being sweet and I started giving them lots of kisses. It wasn’t until I watched the video that I saw the peace on Zak’s face. A sweet little silly moment, reinforces our bond and his feeling of safety. The dog that held his breath to the point of hiccups because the world was that terrifying. The dog that has no reason to trust humans, or even other dogs, knows that the dog fighting world is a thing of the past. Hunny is the sister that helped him take the big leap into being comfortable enough to just do dog things.

Zak, myself and Vinny of the @purr_munsters crew were snuggling in bed. Zak had one of his night terrors and woke up howling like he does. It always takes a few to get him out of it and “bring him back to reality” but we always do. Immediately after Vincent started taking care of comforting him 🥹

We have added yet another cat to the @purr_munsters crew. This is Yōuměi Māo (yo-may mhow - translated to graceful cat). Yoyo for short. She has severe CH (wobbly cat). Everyone had been doting on her. Zak kept asking for her to be out so I put her in her basket so he could hang out with her.

From day one Zak has been cat friendly. Pumpkin, our 🌈 torti is the one who taught him the ways. He loves cats but also scared of those claws 😄
