Eastern Region Outstanding Alumni Chapter of the Year: 2023, 2024 & 2025

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

The brothers of Zeta Zeta Lambda Chapter are honored to be recognized as the 2026 Outstanding Alumni Chapter of the Year, smaller chapter category, at the 37th NYACOA Convention!

Behind this recognition are brothers who show up, put in the work, and carry Alpha’s mission into our community. Through service that meets real needs, mentorship that helps young men see their potential, and events that raise funds for scholarships, we continue creating opportunities for the next generation.

Every ticket purchased, donation made, and hour volunteered helps move that work forward. To our supporters, partners, and families, thank you for helping us turn brotherhood into meaningful impact.

Congratulations to all the other chapters doing outstanding work throughout the PHIrst State! We salute your dedication, celebrate your accomplishments, and honor the collective impact we make as brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. 🤙🏾

Strength In Unity. Honor in Brotherhood.
The work continues. The legacy grows.

Today was our final mentoring session of the 2025–2026 fraternal year, and we focused on the important topics of Manhood and Fatherhood.

To every father, father figure, mentor, and young man in the room, we thank you for your honesty, vulnerability, and willingness to share your experiences and perspectives.

To our mentees: Remember that manhood is not measured by strength alone. It is measured by character, integrity, responsibility, compassion, and the courage to keep moving forward when life becomes difficult. Never be afraid to ask questions, seek guidance, or learn from those who have walked the path before you.

To our fathers and father figures: Thank you for showing up. Your presence matters more than you may realize. The lessons you teach through your words, actions, sacrifices, and even your mistakes help shape the next generation of men.

Thank you all for being part of this journey. Keep growing, keep leading, and keep lifting one another up.

Onward and Upward.

This video serves as a tribute to the charter members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Zeta Zeta Lambda Chapter. Created using artificial intelligence, the scenes depicted are fictional, designed to offer a glimpse into what the chartering of our chapter in 1955 may have looked and felt like.

Through storytelling, we highlighted two brothers walking the streets of Queens, engaging in conversation about the need for Alpha in their community, adding both detail and a touch of humor to bring that vision to life.

But make no mistake… the impact is real.

We honor the vision, courage, and commitment of those brothers whose conversation turned into action… and whose action turned into a legacy of leadership.

71 years later, we are still here, serving the Queens community, upholding the standard, and carrying the light of Alpha forward.

We extend our deepest gratitude to our charter members:
Bro. Alfred Abramson, Bro. Daniel Bailey, Bro. George Barzey, Bro. Matthew Bowie, Bro. Emsar Bradford, Bro. Theodore Childs, Bro. Haye Clifford, Bro. Thomas Coleman, Bro. Frank Dixon, Bro. Arthur Gilmer, Bro. James Hariston, Bro. Eric Headly, Bro. Wilburn Holland, Bro. Richard Jackson, Bro. Thomas Jordan, Bro. Albert B. Kelsey, Bro. William Lester, Bro. Luther Mimms, Bro. George Sample, Bro. Hale Thompson, Bro. Joseph Thompson, Bro. Norman Vaughn, and Bro. Whitney Yenwith.

Because of you… we continue.

Yesterday, Zeta Zeta Lambda mentorship was in full effect, with a something new! We connected Self-Control and Blocking Out the Noise with Brazilian Jujitsu. With this combination we challenged our mentees to listen and comprehend instructions, communicate with each other and then execute. Our teachers today Bro. Gerard Haskins and Coach O (@thecrossjiujitsu ), showed us how to identify a threat and disarm the threat all while keeping ourselves safe.

This is a perfect connection for our young men with whatever mental or physical challenges they may face to assess before reacting and knowing when and how to avoid conflict.

YOUR VOICE. YOUR VOTE. YOUR POWER.

“A Voteless People Is a Hopeless People.”

Our communities deserve more than conversation, they deserve participation. Voting is one way we help shape the decisions that affect our families, our neighborhoods, and the generations coming behind us.

The brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Zeta Zeta Lambda Chapter encourage you to take action. Register to vote. If you’re already registered, check your status, learn about the candidates and issues, and make a plan to cast your ballot.

Bring the conversation home. Encourage a friend. Help someone take that first step. Civic engagement is a responsibility we carry together.

Your voice carries weight. Put it into action. 🤙🏾
