Our exclusive trailer and poster premiere for Meriem Bennani and Orian Barki's #Bouchra presents an acclaimed, personal hybrid animation.

Watch at the link in bio ahead of a June 26 release beginning at @metrograph from @filmmovement.

Here's the synopsis: "Wrestling with writer’s block for her first film, Bouchra, a queer Moroccan jackal living in NYC, starts having difficult yet overdue phone calls with her mother in Casablanca that begin influencing the project. Balancing the precarity of working as an artist in New York, the rift in her identity between her two homes and an array of friendships and romantic interests, Bouchra’s emotional reckoning with her mother and herself becomes her path to expression." taken in Metrograph by @2lizardsproduction

What happened last night is something we must never take for granted.

At the preview event for BOUCHRA hosted by @nafs.space we saw a wonderful busy screen followed by an insightful and beautiful conversation of personal experiences and what BOCUHRA means to the audience and beyond.

Reflecting on the small window we have where BOUCHRA can be seen on the big screen we are reminded of the importance of the collective viewing experience, of the community coming together to watch themselves on the big screen - through the pain and the joy.

Thank you to NAFS for the collaboration and bringing together such a beautiful event, to our panelists @rahimabde_official and @marvmahdi for generously sharing their insights and the most undeniable moderator @saltfatacidheidi for holding the space.

Thanks to @riocinema for having us, to everyone who came and raved about the film and to @changeme2012 @meriembennani for their incredible work and film.

Bouchra is in cinemas from 7th August, find your local screening on our website (but note it’s also vey much worth travelling for.)

Our next preview is with @exhale.group in Glasgow at @glasgowfilmtheatre on 6th August - see you there ❤️ by @2lizardsproduction
