In September, we gathered to celebrate the next generation of Detroit’s creative voices.

The Young Creatives Exhibition brought together emerging artists and community through a shared commitment to creative expression, cultural exchange, and the future of Detroit’s arts landscape.

Presented in partnership with the @diadetroit’ Inside|Out, @bulk_space, and the @bgcgreaterdetroit, the exhibition created a space to recognize young talent and the perspectives shaping what comes next.

Curated by @9hopes, Young Creatives reflected the importance of investing in emerging artists and creating opportunities for their work to be seen, experienced, and celebrated.

Jes, since ninth grade, you’ve been one of the constants in my life. We went to college together, helped each other through our graduate programs, and have been there for each other through everything life has brought our way.

We’ve seen about 45 different versions of each other—the growing, the grieving, the figuring-it-out, and the starting-over versions. Never once have we met those changes with judgment or questioned our friendship. We’ve given each other room to grow while always making sure the other knew she was loved.

There’s something so precious about a friend who knows who you were, loves who you are, and welcomes whoever you’re becoming. Thank you for being that person for me. I love you deeply, and I’m so grateful we get to keep growing up together. 🤍

2024 was the most surreal year ever. I was in love then I saved myself. I got another degree I didn’t think I would. Now as I slide into 2025 I’m on a mission to explore and grow in ways I can only imagine.

Special thank you to my comrades. We’re doing such great things! ✨✨✨

When your mom thinks you’re famous 🤩

These past few months have been so incredible. We opened @bulk_space media lab, completed a kick ass fellowship with @arttableinc and @locustprojects (thank you again for the opportunity! Special shot out to such a wonderful team ❤️), taught a quick little workshop with @charlottestreetfoundation for their artist leadership intensive, and am gearing up to head back HOME. #DETROIT

The past two years have been ALOT and the world is still fucked but I’m happy I’m doing okay and we’re just really trying our best.
