The making of a piece of furniture often begins with picking up a block of wood: feeling its weight, sensing its scent, and questioning how this timber might live as an object.

At the exhibition Before Furniture, Haidi presents six distinct types of wood.

Some are light enough to lift with one hand; others are dense enough to sink in water. Some carry vivid aromas that evoke fragments of lived memory.

A timber’s density, scent, grain and texture are shaped by its growing environment and internal structure. These inherent qualities determine how it may be cut, joined, and whether it is prone to cracking or warping — defining what it can become.

To understand a material is to recognise its innate properties before design begins, and to leave room for its natural transformation.

Re Moorōt Showroom Spatial Design Launch | Shanghai Fashion Week

This new spatial collaboration with Qingyang, alongside Yiyi, successfully came to life 🦦. @qingyangcc

We aimed to free buyers & content creators from commercial rigidity, inviting them to experience the showroom like an art show.

The space revolves around memory and imagery. Subtle lines tell a dreamlike story. Many pieces are handcrafted by our team — stacked memory artefacts on tables. Blurred projections through acrylic meet misty city skylines, building a dreamy immersive scene.

Grateful for this chance to curate a Shanghai Fashion Week showroom. Keep refining spatial storytelling for more exciting works 💭
