Around six months ago, I started working on a new theme in my practice

The past six months have been filled with trips, teaching and commissions, all of which I genuinely enjoy. At the same time, I’ve been working on something of my own- exploring ideas and themes that feel personally meaningful to me, and searching for new ways to express them

My painting “In The Afternoon” 2025 lost in the international delivery
A painting cannot simply disappear into thin air

I don’t have the right words for how much this hurts. This painting was on its way to an international exhibition- and somewhere along that journey, it was either brazenly stolen, or lost through someone’s carelessness.

After a long search, the postal service told me they just could not locate it….
It has now been 6 months since any trace of it was tracked

But it didn’t vanish. It was packed carefully with my own hands, framed, transported, signed, handled by real people at every checkpoint. It exists somewhere, right now

I still believe in human connection- that if enough people see this, it will find its way back. If you ever come across it- resold, in a private collection, in a gallery, anywhere- please, contact me 🙏🏼 This is not how a piece of someone’s work, soul and time should be treated.

To other artists: please be careful when shipping internationally. If you can, ship your work rolled rather than framed- now I find it much more safe for the painting
Put a tracker in your package if you can. I wish someone had told me that before

If anyone can help me locate the painting, or has legal advice on how to pursue this further, please contact me 🙏🏼

Please repost, please share- the more people who see this, the better the chance it comes home, and the better the chance another artist avoids what I went through.
Thank you, and take care of yourselves 🤍 by @_____als
