This show went way beyond expectations, it was the first time curating a show and I am so grateful to amazing people who made this show so memorable. A special thank-you has to go out to the following legends, without them this show wouldn’t have happened:

Top of the list goes to the amazing creatives who took part in the show, it meant a lot that to me that so many familiar faces were in this show, I loved being able to showcase your work. Also meeting creatives for the first time and displaying their incredibly skilled work was truly special too – just reinforces how varied our creative design community is.

Noise Complaint (@noisecomplaint_au) – absolute royalty.

Sully (@lazyfair) photographed this show and knocked it out of the park, he’s been shooting my stuff since day one and has an incredible eye, I couldn’t think of anyone else better to capture Off-Menu.

Ari who fabricated these plinths and got the friction fit just right – sorry for the multiple revisions!

PinkyPrint (@pinkyprint.co) for all the printed collateral; I am so happy with how everything turned out.

Everyone who come in to see the show, it was a pleasure chatting with you and showing you all the incredible work.

The Off-Menu MDW 2026 kitchen is officially closed but we’ll always be cooking 🍝🍝

Until next time,

That opening party was something else, the place was packed with so many amazing people from the design community – a huge thank-you goes out to everyone who attended that night.

An equally huge thank-you to our drink sponsors Bodriggy (@bodriggybrewpub) and Doom Juice Wine (@doomjuicewine) for launching Off-Menu in style; there is no one else who I would have wanted help us celebrate the show.

Where do I even begin? Noise Complaint (@noisecomplaint_au) have been incredible hosts and I couldn’t imagine Off-Menu without them. From planning, to guidance, to running around on opening night; a heartfelt forever thank-you goes to them.

I greatly appreciate their skill as creatives too, for the week that the show was on I got to peak behind the curtain (literally) and see the projects that they are working on; their output as a creative studio is top tier.

Front Room

Off-Menu had 3 main sections, grouping work of each participant with similar objects, practices and/or finishes.

The front room was dedicated to all things metal – with each practice showing a wide array of design and fabrication precision. I greatly appreciated how each practice highlighted how versatile metal can be; be it in robust or minimal profiles, material types, fabrication processes, or various finishes.

In this area there are works by the following practices:

Central Row

Off-Menu had 3 main sections, grouping work of each participant with similar objects, practices and/or finishes.

The central row was dedicated to seating – with digital and sensory items complementing them. Detailing is visible front to back when it comes to seating, so I made sure that details could be seen from all angles. I also really loved facing Nandi (@mevin.josy) in front of the Off-Site (@beren.design) animation; talk about having the best seat in the house.

In this area there are works by the following practices:

@francocreafurniture
@ka_rastudio
@melvin.josy

Almost Bookshelf
The Almost Bookshelf is a handcrafted solid timber piece defined by its subtly slanted shelves. The gentle angle allows large stone spheres to roll along a carved channel, transforming them into dynamic, sculptural bookends.

Carousel
Carousel reimagines the simple, yet often forgotten candle carousel. Hand crafted using solid timber and brushed steel, it is a sculptural and kinetic piece, set in motion by the heat of the flame.

Chair, Print
A 1:1 two-dimensional starting point for the work, reducing the chair to a simple side profile and 5x3 grid. Drawing on my practice as a graphic designer, the print uses this structure as a framework for typography, colour and composition.

Chair, Chair
A birch plywood occasional chair developed from the same side profile and grid. The chair translates this flat graphic structure into physical space, exploring how a chair’s simplest recognisable form can become a functional object.
