@geronimo.xyz started two years ago when we built a fully playable chess set, reduced down as far as it could go while still holding onto ergonomics and readability in the pieces, and we’ve loved it ever since. The economics of producing it at that standard never worked out, so the project went on hold. It hasn’t gone away though, it’s been a project at the front of our minds this whole time. There’s a waitlist up on the site along with a digital playable board, and if enough of you get on it we’ll likely turn it into a pre-order. Volume-based custom gcode slicing experiments. Haven’t sorted out exactly where I’m going with this but I’ve been having a blast figuring it out. Knog Bike Computer and Light System For our @offsite.design class, Tyler and I choose to design a product live in front of the class to demonstrate how to stitch together different softwares into a cohesive product design workflow. This cohort we decided to create a bike computer and light system for the brand @knog . We have been big fans of the brand Knog for a while, and were excited to create something that would feel like a nice extension to their design language.
 Initially we thought to combine a computer and light into one product but determined that the battery requirements would result in a form factor that was much too bulky, so we divorced the two elements into separate units, where you could simply slide on a light if you are going out for an evening ride without having to create an additional attachment point to the frame. This systems allows you to maintain an extremely clean mounting configuration, and enables you to easily add a light to an integrated cockpit. Custom in-house dishware for @cafezupas . After 10+ years operating on the same bowls and plates, Cafe Zupas set out to modernize their dishware, only to find nothing on the market fit their specific service needs or the restaurant ecosystem they’d already built. We ran a full industrial design process, from field research and data gathering through concept development and manufacturing. The result is a set of bowls and plates built for Cafe Zupas’ soup, salad, and sandwich lineup, elevating the brand experience while presenting the food at its best. Special thanks to our partners at @studio___soleil for connecting us to the opportunity and for the art direction and photography that brought the work to life. What would it look like if @thuma.co designed an alarm clock? That’s the prompt @jackmarple and I explored live with this recent @offsite.design cohort as part of our workflow course. We built the project start-to-finish live in class, walking through how we approach decisions, structure ideas, and move from concept to final. In school, we always wanted more visibility into how working designers actually think through a project. That’s something we’ve tried to bring into the course. We’ve wrapped up our side of the project, and the cohort is turning in final submissions this Thursday. Looking forward to seeing where everyone took it. by @___tyleranderson
