I’ve always found joy in the closet. My collection of clothing and accessories has been an overflow my entire life.
As a kid, I think clothing protected me in ways I didn’t understand yet.
•
Fashion is what made me feel good. It gave me something to play with, something to control, something that was entirely mine.
And I get to keep the part that was always mine.

“Going Nowhere Soon” Pt. 2, Indulging
•
This project, for me, and the journey through my practice have been about building safety. Visualizing what joy and comfort look like in the spaces we live in and spend copious amounts of time in.
•
I explore a lot of my history of constantly moving homes as a child, the lack of comfort in rooms that were created to hold comfort, and the abundance of time spent alone or feeling lonely.
•
This is a world I have created for myself, where rushing doesn’t exist, indulging isn’t judged, and self-expression is the only language.

As apart of Detroit Month of Design, DIVE @dive.studios is inviting you in for open studios and a group show of us artists. 💙 We JUST built out our community space together, and are so excited to welcome you in.

DIVE is an artist-run collective studios space located in historic Corktown. This collective viewing space reflects how we work together, share resources, support each other, and expand our practices in collaboration with other groups, art communities, and networks from Detroit and beyond.

All of the beautiful mess and hard work this past month finally comes to life tomorrow, September 12th @dallyinthealleydetroit 11am-11pm 🌀⭐️

I will be located on Forest and 2nd Ave, Midtown, in the artist alley 🧑‍🎨

I will have tote bags, crew necks, framed paper collages, some small paintings, and a special painting I’ll be raffling off (ticket link in bio) and a super fun communal painting / textile collage we are going to make together 💙

Working predominantly with salvaged and repurposed media, her practice reflects on how the things we use can embody both personal and collective histories. She intentionally sources from the Detroit ecosystem, gathering material from Arts & Scraps, thrift stores, discarded objects, and other artists. This approach is both conceptual and practical, rooted in environmental consciousness, financial accessibility, and a deliberate departure from material excess. By working only with what is available, Lee allows limitation to inform composition and meaning.
