Our Maine Lake House project, now live on @archdigest

The day after my birthday, last year. This year, it’s the day we memorialized you. It was beautiful, and the timing cosmic. Tonight we have a full harvest moon in Aries, your sign.

One year ago today, you brought this cake out and had all the strangers sitting at Food sing me happy birthday. Then you told me to cut the cake because there was a surprise inside. I cut in to the cake and didn’t see anything. I looked up at you, confused. You were grinning. “Red velvet!!” I couldn’t believe it, but also could. “Red velvet isn’t a surprise. Jewelry is a surprise”. We laughed really hard.

Then you slid me a note, which I’ll keep just for you and me, printed on the receipt paper of Food. It was the best birthday present I have ever, or will ever, receive.

Last night, my birthday, you sent the most beautiful sunset I’ve ever seen, and a rainbow at the same time. Then, a thunderstorm that could have blown the house away.

I’m a Libra and you’re an Aries, opposites on the chart, opposites in so many ways. But twins as well. That’s probably why we fought like hell and loved just as hard. We really met our matches.

There’s another letter from my birthday the year before that sums it all up - It’s you and me, in our two person club, forever.

I love you. There aren’t words to describe what missing you feels like, so I won’t try. I’ll just say I love you again. by @_janebrooks

My special one. I will love you until my last breath. This is how I will remember you. Warm and safe in our bed, with goji at our feet and shiro on our pillow. Harry Potter on the tv, McDonald’s and you making sure there’s extra ranch for me. Us smiling and laughing, so happy and excited that we get to have a sleepover every night for the rest of our lives. A playdate every day.

Sometimes when your mind went to the bad place, you would tell me a day like this might come. I would stop up my ears and scream and cry until you would stop, but some words got through. That you would be with me forever, forever and ever, in every gust of wind and sunrise and sunset. And when i needed you, all i would have to do is reach my foot out in bed and know that your foot would be reaching out to touch mine.

We had over 5 years together in this lifetime. Equally beautiful and hard. Two souls that couldn’t tell where one stopped and the other started. That got us into trouble sometimes, refusing to let go of each other. White knuckle grip until our hands gave out. But being a part of you is the greatest gift I will ever have in this life. I will look for you, like you promised you will look for me, in every lifetime to come.

I don’t want to go on but I will try for you my booshki, because I know you want me to. I love you. I love you so, so much. I miss you. I’m so sorry. I will never say goodbye. Just until next time. There will never be another you. Not for me, not for anyone. by @_janebrooks
