I think this may be my most sentimental piece since doing the portrait of my mother and I last year. This is a process work of a tribute piece to @feareatsthesoil . It always pains me to discover such amazing talent and amazing influences to art and the art space only when they have passed. I fame across the news on his gf page @_janebrooks whom I pass my deepest condolences to and hope to gift this painting to when it reaches completion. Seeing this on the day I lost my mom too simply lowered my spirit the rest of the day. I have developed a different level of empathy now for people who lose their loved ones so suddenly after having personally experienced loss so sudden. This piece is rather an honour to the great artist that Lucien was, after having dug up so much of what he had done and what he was still doing. I guess a part of me felt more drawn to the whole situation because i somehow for some odd reason feel deeply drawn to Lucien’s artistry and philosophy that I have only learned so little about. #luciensmith #tributepainting

Thinking about our Belgrade, Maine project, featured in @archdigest . I’ve been lucky to spend a little time up here again this summer, and there’s really nothing quite like Maine in August. Especially loved all the sweet little vintage painted dressers we found and tucked throughout the house. 📷 @timlenzphoto AD @_h_mart_
