Kira Rai is a woman with purpose. East Midlands born and raised, football began in the back garden and was honed at Derby County FC, shaping the fearless winger she is today.

Her game is explosive pace and dribbling, but intent sets her apart. Football is escape, expression, and a platform. One of the few South Asian women in the pro ranks, she has become a talisman where representation is rare. Her Silh faith keeps her centred, heritage worn like a badge of honour.

From grassroots coaching in London to sideline chats in Derby, Rai is building bridges between football and the South Asian community, not just playing for herself anymore but to shift the landscape, too.

South Asian families are often unfairly labelled as not being supportive of young girls playing football, but @_Kirarai’s upbringing proves that isn’t the case. by @_kirarai

Last week, @theposhwomenofficial footballer Kira Rai was targeted with racial abuse online. Clubs across the #AdobeWomensFACup responded this weekend by showing their support for Kira and reaffirming that there is no room for racism in football.

Kira demonstrated incredible mental strength, scoring her first goals for the club - with a stunning 5-minute hat-trick helping them through to the First Round.
