We stand with Kira Rai.   With over 100 appearances for Derby County and now signing for Peterborough United, Kira is not only a talented footballer but a role model who uses her platform to inspire the South Asian community. But instead of being able to celebrate moving to a new club, she was subjected to racist online abuse.   There is no place for racism. Not in football, not anywhere. The game belongs to everyone.   We are with you, Kira. #womensfootball #showracismtheredcard

I think I’ve come down from the adrenaline of directing this beast of a documentary for @copa90 , the response so far has been overwhelming. All we wanted was to spark up the conversation in the wider community and to give the younger versions of us the hope that they could be her! The next South Asian Lioness. And I think we can safely say WE DID THAT! I’d just like to say thank you to @sehmi_skimmed for bringing me in on such an important topic! She really battled her way to make this happen for around four years! It was an honour to back my work wifey throughout and she back me🥹🫶🏽 @marvamsk you put in a shift more than any presenter should, you really owned this project + that is shining through! I’ve made friends for life on this project which is crazy to think. Jack saw every range of emotion from me what a GUY he carried us through this🤣 @h.y.niu made the set so breezy and delightful. @badbteenie was going above + beyond, I ain’t seen anyone with that work ethic in a while (she helps me have faith in the youngers) @_vsoffff and @phxebemay both gracefully edited this to perfection in a ridiculously short space @browntownrising you laid the vital foundations, 4eva grateful Created by @sehmi_skimmed Directed by @yourgirlabbey Hosted by @marvamsk DOP @h.y.niu additional cinematography @badbteenie @cbemaddocks In association with @browntownrising written by @sehmi_skimmed @marvamsk @yourgirlabbey EIC: Dan Parker Head of Content for Copa90: Jack Fletcher Producers: @biajoe @browntownrising @sehmi_skimmed Production & Talent consultant: @liamfheath Production coordinator: @charmorrin Photography: @yourgirlabbey @badbteenie @sehmi_skimmed Editors: @_vsoffff @phxebemay Post production manager Alasdair Cullen Post production: Oscar Sephton Researchers: @charmorrin Chris Nee @browntownrising Archive & Imagery: Alamy and Getty Images Graphic Design: @yourgirlabbey Colour by @okaystudio Colourist @alexo.colour Colour assistant: Nicole Angliss Colour Wp: Franky Chadwick Sound Design: Little Things Studio Sound Engineer: Dan Rimmer Motion Graphics: Daniel Hawkins Music Consultant: @nadine_noor Music: Universal Production Music, @daramadj @taralilymood

Overrepresented at the grassroots level, underrepresented on the biggest stage. Recent studies by The FA show that South Asian women and girls are playing football in numbers we’ve never seen before, but one question still remains: why haven’t we seen our first senior South Asian Lioness? To get to the bottom of a debate that has spanned decades, @marvamsk spoke to community and industry experts, uncovering the multitude of layers involved alongside spotlighting the next generation of South Asian female footballers that are defying cultural norms. ‘Finding the First South Asian Lioness’ drops tomorrow on the COPA90 YouTube Channel 🎥 📸: @shamiltannaphoto
