“What about the boat times?” 😂🇫🇷

A magical afternoon aboard Castelbrac’s Fou de Bassan with Jeff, who made the entire experience absolutely unforgettable. Cancale oysters, champagne, the breathtaking Emerald Coast—and Steve casually stepping into his role as captain for the afternoon. 🦪🥂⚓️

Meanwhile, French Fitz got splashed by the sea and handled it with exactly the amount of elegance you’d expect. 😂

We sold the thing we were known for and gave ourselves permission to become unknown again.

That has been strange, uncomfortable and exactly right.

In the next few weeks we’re heading home to open The Inventory Room, reopen Florida Mining and build the next version of our work together—art, interiors, objects, spaces, real estate and whatever falls between the categories.

We’re ready for new projects. We’re ready to collaborate. We’re ready to work with unusually talented people who want to help build something distinctive, profitable and genuinely good.

We know where this is going, even if we can’t explain all of it yet.

Èze. 🇫🇷✨

Yesterday we took the train along the Côte d’Azur and made our way up to one of the most beautiful little villages we’ve seen on this trip.

Stone pathways, old walls, tiny passages, incredible doors, layers of green… and that view of the Mediterranean from the garden. Èze is the kind of place that reminds me why I travel. There’s inspiration everywhere if you’re paying attention.

We wandered. We took it all in. We burned for beauty. ☀️😂

And when the South of France sun finally won, we headed back to the hotel, cooled off, poured something cold and caught a little glimpse of the eclipse from our balcony. 🌒

A train ride.
A medieval village above the sea.
A garden in the sky.
An eclipse to end the day.

Just another chapter of our European summer.

Anniversary in Grasse, France.

One husband sick. One just got well.

The less smart husband wearing a sweater in 100-degree weather for reasons that remain unclear.

Both of us still somehow convinced this is romantic.

And strangely… it is.

Because this trip feels less like a vacation and more like the beginning of something. We’re walking through perfume houses looking for ideas for The Inventory Room, looking at art and thinking about the next life of Florida Mining, talking endlessly about art, design, business, home, creativity and what we want our lives to become now.

We’ve spent a lot of years building things together. We’ve also spent a lot of years learning when it’s time to let things go.

Not starting over. Just taking everything we’ve learned, everything we’ve survived, everything that worked and everything that absolutely did not — and carrying the good parts forward.

Marriage is funny that way. You think you’re celebrating the life you built, and suddenly you realize you’re standing beside the same person preparing to build another one.

So here we are.

Sick. Sweaty. Working on vacation. Smelling approximately 400 perfumes a day. Looking at art. Dreaming again.

And apparently dressed for November.

Happy anniversary, Fitz.

Swiss Fitz: Chapter Two🇨🇭✨

Followed a yellow sign to Partnunsee… and accidentally found my favorite day of the trip.

🥾 Hiked through the Alps.
🦆 Stopped to admire ducks living their best lives.
🥶 Took the plunge into 60° glacier-fed water. (There was hesitation… plenty of it.)
🚣 Drifted across the lake in a little boat.
🍽️ Wandered down the mountain for lunch.
🛴 Finished the day racing downhill on a scooter with just enough excitement to remind me I was alive.

Maybe luxury isn’t five stars……..🧐
Maybe it’s mountain air, cold water, sore legs, great friends, and a day you wish you could press replay on.

Happiest birthday to my better half. What an amazing person you are always lighting up the room, helping me to stay curious, loving our kids like they deserve and always putting family first. On this 45th year I want you to know how much you mean not only to me but to our entire family, friends and the city we call home. You are a daily inspiration for so many and you have worked so hard to get where you are and I would imagine you have no idea how wonderful everything is going to turn out.
