As those close to us know, this album has been a long time coming, so we’re thrilled to finally be able to share it with everyone. Our immense thanks to the friends who helped make this possible: To @dylino_ryno and Keefe Jackson for their beautiful musical contributions; to Dave Cooley at @elysianmasters for the care taken in mastering; to @travess for the gorgeous cover artwork; and to @chriskaylis for lending his design expertise.

So much gratitude also to everyone who’s already listened/shared/commented/purchased, and to those who may in the days ahead - we truly appreciate it!

Very excited to share our latest single:

✨✨𝕊𝕜𝕪𝕝𝕚𝕘𝕙𝕥 ✨✨

“Skylight” is unique among the songs on our debut record, in that it originated from an outside contributor - in this case, our dear friend Dylan Ryan. Dylan had done a series of home recordings of various mallet instruments for a few other songs on the record - but when he delivered them, he also included a track of off-the-cuff passages on xylophone. Excited by what we heard, we combined a few of the takes and began piecing together a basic form for a new song. Cameron and Scott proceeded to lay down a live, improvised take featuring a “choir” patch on the Kurzweil K2000 (Scott playing the main line, Cam adding high notes) before Cameron added some Raymond Scott-inspired cascading trills on his modular. To anchor the piece, Christopher tacked on a simple bass part on the K2000 before Scott added the cherry on top: a voice memo of his feline friend Fil chewing on a treat. Sadly, Fil had recently passed away, so we decided to add the recording to the song’s intro as a loving homage.

I finally tried making a music video and here’s the thing I did:

𝓈𝓂𝒶𝓁𝓁𝑒𝓇 𝑔𝒶𝓇𝒹𝑒𝓃𝓈

I like to record videos of everyday things and reimagine them as alien terrain 👽

Big thanks to Keefe Jackson for playing bass clarinet and to master percussionist @dylino_ryno for contributing some meditative vibraphone that sends me to the stratosphere with every listen ✨✨
