Housing. Healthcare. Schools. That’s where our money belongs. Not in the U.S.-Israel war machine. Our window to stop the Deadly Merger is closing. We need to flood Congress with calls this week. While we oppose the NDAA’s entire war budget, right now, we’re fighting to strip out provisions that would deepen weapons and surveillance partnerships with Israel before they become law. 📞 Call Congress today. Demand your representative sign Rep. Ro Khanna’s letter to remove the Deadly Merger provisions. Take action now by going to the link in our bio! by @adalahjusticeproject
On November 11th, come meet Tareq Baconi and discuss his new book, What Now: On Palestine, Freedom, and Our Global Future, with the author and the JVP-NYC Political Education Team. Moderated by JVP member Morgan Bassichis. All are welcome, whether or not you are a JVP member. 📚 JVP-NYC Book Event With Tareq Baconi 📆 Wednesday 11/11 at 6:30pm 📍 In-person at the Peoples Forum 🔗 Link in bio to sign up Take these steps to join: 1. Sign up at the link in our bio! We want to pack the room with as many JVP-NYC members and partners as possible to learn from Tareq. In addition to a Q&A and small group discussion, there will be elements of a typical chapter meeting: political grounding, campaign updates and announcements, and an optional post-meeting social. 2. Preorder the book! We encourage you to order it directly from the publisher if you are able. The book is scheduled to be delivered on the release date of November 3rd, which will give you time to read it before the discussion the following week. It will also be available across NYC libraries. 3. Read the book! There are only 8 days between release date and event but the book is short. If you aren’t able to finish the book, please do still join the meeting. 4. Join us at The People’s Forum on Wednesday, November 11th to discuss What Now and meet Tareq Baconi. Please note that we won’t have Zoom capabilities for this event but will do our best to record it. by @adalahjusticeproject
🎃 It’s spooky season, and the Deadly Merger is giving sleep paralysis demon. 👹 But this nightmare is real, and Congress still has time to stop it. Right now, House and Senate Armed Services Committee members and congressional leadership are negotiating the final text of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), including whether the Deadly Merger, the U.S.-Israel military technology co-production provision, stays in the bill. THE NEXT TWO WEEKS ARE CRITICAL. Head over to stopthedeadlymerger.org to take action! Once negotiations wrap up, likely in December, Congress will vote on the final bill. This is our window to build enough pressure to get the Deadly Merger removed. HERE IS HOW YOU CAN HELP: 1. CALL YOUR MEMBERS OF CONGRESS TODAY AND EVERY DAY FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS. 2. DEMAND THEY TAKE ACTION. Ask your representatives and senators to: -Sign Rep. Ro Khanna’s letter calling for the removal of the U.S.-Israel military technology co-production provision. -Publicly oppose the NDAA as it stands, including the Deadly Merger provision, and commit to voting NO if it remains in the bill. 3. SPREAD THE WORD. Share this post, send it to your friends, and get more people calling. The more pressure Congress feels, the harder it becomes to ignore us. We have a narrow window to make this happen. Do not wait until the vote is here. By then, it may be too late. This spooky season, let’s make the Deadly Merger disappear. CALL CONGRESS. DEMAND ITS REMOVAL. TAKE ACTION NOW. #StopTheDeadlyMerger #NDAA #CallCongress by @adalahjusticeproject
Over 5,000 calls made to Block the Bombs and to stop the Deadly Merger. Keep up the momentum, spread the word: our pressure is working! This Wednesday, October 28th join us in a phone bank to demand our representatives stop the Israel and US military merger. This Deadly Merger is buried inside the annual military spending bill, or the National Defense Authorization Act which Congress will be voting on again soon. Our window to stop this is getting smaller which is why we are phone banking nearly every week to make sure Congress knows where their constituents stand. Spread the word! See you there! by @adalahjusticeproject
TAKE ACTION: Apple recently bought an Israeli AI company for nearly $2 billion — its second-biggest acquisition ever. One of Apple’s largest research and development offices is in Herzliya. The iPhone 17e reportedly features a chip developed in Israel. Tech development in Israel legitimizes and fuels the genocidal apartheid state. Criminal complaints against Apple allege the corporation is also sourcing conflict minerals from eastern Congo tied to violence and child labor. As Apple launches iPhone 18, we’re joining with a global coalition to say NO to Apple’s complicity in atrocities against Palestinians and Congolese communities and NO to Apple products. Add your name: We don’t want tech developed under the genocidal, apartheid Israeli state! End Big Tech complicity in Gaza, the West Bank, and Congo: This campaign is in alliance with the coalition Apples Against Apartheid and their current campaign, Say No to Blood Tech. mpowerchange.org/noisraelitech by @adalahjusticeproject
This week, Zionist-Settler organization, Ateret Cohanim, tried to create a heritage center in Silwan, East Jerusalem, and lost. A Jerusalem court blocked the transfer of millions of shekels from the Heritage Ministry to the right wing organization, dealing a huge setback to their efforts to Judaize the Palestinian neighborhood. by @adalahjusticeproject
“The crime scene did not end. It changed shape.” At eleven, Rozan Arafat lost her parents and most of her family when an Israeli bombing destroyed their home in Gaza. She survived with a severely injured leg that had to be amputated. While displaced, she began documenting what she witnessed through drawings made with broken pencils and whatever materials she could find. Now fourteen, Rozan has returned to Gaza. She continues to draw, navigates life with a prosthetic leg, and waits to return to school. Her story is one of profound loss, but also of the everyday acts that allow a child to keep living: shaping clay with her sister, chasing a ball, and holding on to the small joys of childhood. Palestinian photojournalist Eman Mohammed @emanit tells Rozan’s story with care, following her journey through injury, exile, rehabilitation, and homecoming. “The goal is not just to make a prosthetic work. It is to help Rozan walk, return to school, sit in a classroom, draw, laugh.” Head over to the link in our bio to read the full piece and learn how to support long-term care for Rozan and other Palestinian children through HEAL Palestine. by @adalahjusticeproject
🚨STOP THE DEADLY MERGER 🚨 The U.S. and Israel want to merge their military systems in order to produce deadly weapons and surveillance technology together. This Deadly Merger is buried inside the annual military spending bill, or National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which Congress will be voting on again soon. We have a small window of time to block the NDAA, which is why we’re phone-banking to make sure Congress knows where their constituents stand. Join us! by @adalahjusticeproject
We're not giving up the fight. Today Mahmoud Khalil asked the Supreme Court to review the case challenging his detention by the Trump administration after the appeals court in January overturned a lower court’s order that released Mr. Khalil on bail and barred the government from detaining or deporting him. Mr. Khalil’s petition for a writ of certiorari to the Supreme Court argues that the federal courts have always had the authority to hear a claim that one is being unconstitutionally detained by the executive and to order one’s release, particularly when the very point of a detention is to retaliate and punish someone for constitutionally protected speech. The case will have far-reaching consequences for all detained migrants by giving the Trump administration vast power to detain on unlawful or pretextual bases. Comment “Mahmoud” and we’ll send you more information. To stop the deadly U.S.-Israel military merger. Our voices are becoming too insistent to ignore. Free Palestine. RSVP here: jvp.org/gazaph by @adalahjusticeproject
As we enter the fourth year of Israel’s genocide in Gaza, many of us are reflecting on the devastation of Israel’s ongoing violence, and on our movement’s efforts to disrupt and dismantle the U.S.-Israel war machine. In a new essay on Substack, Adalah Justice Project Co-Executive Director Sandra Tamari reflects on the distance imposed between Palestinians in Gaza, across occupied Palestine, and throughout the diaspora, the love that binds us across that distance, and our struggle to close it. “While trying to process these last three years, I kept coming back to one theme: distance. The painful distance between Palestinians in Gaza, across occupied Palestine, and in the diaspora. A distance that is imposed upon us by force, used as a weapon by our oppressors to isolate us from each other, sow resentment and fragmentation, and strip us of our collective power.” Read Sandra’s full love letter to Palestine at the link in bio. by @adalahjusticeproject
