Abundance Collection is celebration of life’s quiet miracles…

From darkness to light, doubt to dreaming again. Inspired by a journey of rediscovery, this collection honours the beauty of being held by love, community, and the universe.

To be is to be abundant.

~
Thank you to everyone who has held me along this journey called life.💗🙏🫂

To the sun and its morning kisses, to the white feather and its knowing glide. The butterfly and her beautiful guidance! the dragonfly and its divine guidance. ✨

Freedom is like embracing the multidimensionality of self.

What a journey life has been! When Freedom Is Like… was first born, it was intended to be just three fleeting moments—something that would happen and pass, something I wasn’t sure fit into the vision I had for myself. Fast forward over a year later, and I find myself hosting Freedom Is Like… in the same space where I am exhibiting my artworks. I am the artist, the host, the interviewer—I am self in all its uncertain and imperfect magic.

For me, joy has been realizing that not feeling great is never a reason to deny myself happiness. Joy, for me, has had the opportunity to rest upon the shoulders of community, through the BMT Family (@bmtculturehub ), the Freedom Is Like team, and the Radiant exhibition (@mojun.jpg ). I have found the greatest success and fulfillment through friendships, connection, and community, and I am so humbled and grateful.

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me this year. You all know the big ways you’ve helped—I quite literally wouldn’t be here without you.

Ese!🙏🙏🙏

Congratulations on an incredible exhibition, curator Abigail Fakoyo (@mojun.jpg). Girl, you alchemized!!! Thank you for allowing me to exhibit my work alongside all the artists I fan-girl over. Ese!🙏🙏🙏

✨️Welcome to Adanma's World✨️ ~ A glimpse into my way of being.

We all live life, yet we each attempt to understand it in different, or perhaps similar, ways. Life and living are still vague concepts to me. What is life, and what does it truly mean to be alive—to be living? I’m still trying to comprehend how it all works. But each day, I take my own shaky steps, holding my own shaky breaths, as I navigate and try to translate what my soul sings to me.

So, welcome to another shaky breath—one that's out in the world, like a gasp of air trying to exist in a world of gasping air. From the creative whims of self-expression to the realms of fashion (@adasfashionislife ), jewelry (@adasjewellryislife ) , and art (@adasartislife ) —welcome to my journey with self.

Name: Adanma Nwankwo
Age: 23
Occupation: Adanmaist ~ Adventurer of life ~ From the highs of curious excitement to the depth of revealing shadows, I ride the waves of life to remain untethered to any one way of being.
Creative Expressions: artist, designer, stylist, writer, archivist, host, event coordinator, and more to come.

Welcome to my corners of this digital space.😌✨️

Shadow ~ River Goddess Dress (2024)
Created with help from artists @rihanatabigey and @rolinablok💖

Installation inspired by artist @alexschady

‘Shadow: River Goddess’ embodies the Spirit of the Walbrook River ~ a prominent river at the heart of Bank, the financial district and historical powerhouse of London. ‘Shadow’ - a recurring character in my practice, represents the subconscious, and its ties to deeper ancestral wisdom held in the body. Here she walks the path above the river’s course, drawing attention to its significance and its neglect within the postmodern landscape

The dress is inspired by the formation of the Walbrook river - the two tributaries running as the sleeves of the dress that meet at the back and recreate the cascading flow of the river. by @adasartislife

When applying risk management strategies to museum collections, risk is broken down according to ten agents of deterioration  that pose threats to collections.  Nine of these risks are physical (physical forces, fire, water, criminals, pests, pollutants, light, incorrect temperature, and incorrect humidity) and the tenth is custodial neglect, for example where a collection item may be disassociated from provenance. Museums generally suspend objects from use, touch and intervention in order to freeze or hold things in a state of torpor, preventing interactions in order to preserve. Many Indigenous peoples challenge the idea of preservation as a greater good, instead affirming the right to renew and use, enliven and care for objects as part of community life.

The Prisoners of Love (PoL) project aims to connect UK collection items with their trans-national home peoples and bring emerging artists from in the UK, curators and researchers into conversation, to work responsively with complex histories and material practices.

The group have been working with the Economic Botany Collection at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Kew; Horniman Museum and Gardens and Compound 13 Lab in Mumbai; India; Pitt Rivers Museum, Oxford and the Department of Archaeology at the University of Ghana in Accra; Hastings Museum and Art Gallery and the Mootookakio’ssin project on Blackfoot homelands at the ULethbridge, Alberta, Canada. by @adasartislife

“I SAID FRUIT SALAD [!!!]”
✨🍅🍇🥥✨🌺

Curated by Sara David + Alexis Parinas 🫴🏽🍓

This is a Hypha Studios exhibition supported by British Land

Unit 3, Euston Tower, 286 Euston Road, NW1 3DP
Friday 1 December 2023 – Saturday 6 January 2024
@hyphastudios @britishlandplc

🍉“Market Opening” on Friday 1 December 2023, 6-9pm

We want to reimagine the space as a colourful, bustling and joyous “market place”. The selected artists collectively share cross-cultural themes of food as communion, rituals and repetition, play as resistance, and embodied memory and nostalgia. This warm, sensorial and active space will be filled with music and evocative visual signifiers of multicultural exchanges. The space will be open for business with performances and live events every few days, with some of the artists occupying stalls to sell their work.

This group of artists include: Reya Ahmed (@reyaahmed_), Jorge Jobim (@jor.graphy), Leily Moghtader Mojdehi (@mojjyart), Maryam Hina Hasnain (@maryamhinahasnainstudio), Alisha Kruse (@alikruse), Adanma Nwankwo (@adaee12), Mîtra Farhan (@mitrafarhan), Hemali Khoosal (@hemalikhoosal), Amira Dabboussi (@amira.dabboussi), Ellen Warner (@theellenwarner), Yasmine Aminanda (@ayasminea), Nurin Yusof (@tengku_nurin), Hoa Dung Clerget (@hdclerget) and Koa Pham (@koapham), Sarah-Louise Davila (@sarahlouisedav), Maryam Adam (@paintingonmars), Asha Fontenelle (@ashafontenelle_), Kajal Mistry (@drawingisfunwithkajal), Soyeon Kim (@zzoyony), Omar Radwan (@omaradwan1), Marion Aschbacher (@aschbachermarion), Shengjia Zhang (@zhang.shengjia), and Camilla Dilshat (@camilladilshat)

Mootookakio’ssin: Creating in Spacetime

Exhibition: Nov 6 – Dec 16, 2023

Launch, Thursday Nov 9, 5 – 7 pm. (Followed by After Hours.)

Organized by Josephine Mills, Louisa Minkin, and Migueltzinta Solis

Mootookakio’ssin: Creating in Spacetime bridges temporal gaps between historical cultural material housed in museums and living contemporary artists. For the past few years, Blackfoot Elders, artists, scholars, and museum professionals living on Blackfoot Territory and in Britain have been working together, talking, and thinking about material culture, cultural capital, power, and estrangement. We’ve visited with historical cultural material in museum collections, survived the pandemic, jumped time zones, and calibrated calendars to make connections. Always guided by the Blackfoot principle that we have a responsibility to share and to care for knowledge, teaching and learning is at the core of our work.

Shadow - River Goddess
September 2023
Medium: Performance
Filmed by Hans Lam (@hs1am )

She walks upon the land that’s engulfed her and across the street that used to bear witness to her magnificent stream, now wearing fluid fabric streams of her own. Shadow, once a personification of the artist’s subconscious, now manifests as a human embodiment of the Walbrock River. In this piece, the artist explores the themes of memory, time and the repression and pollution of nature using the Walbrock River as her case study. by @adasartislife
