Pink October ๐ŸŽ—๏ธ In the US, Black women are twice as likely to be diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer.
It is one of the most aggressive forms of breast cancer, and their death rate is about 40% higher than that of white women.

Worldwide in 2024, 2.4 million women were diagnosed with breast cancer and 694,000 died from it.

Awareness is not enough. Women need access to information, screening, diagnosis and care at the right time.
This Pink October, ADWIN stands with every African woman living with breast cancer, every survivor and every family.

Share this with a woman who needs to hear it. ๐ŸŽ—๏ธ

Last Friday, September 18, ADWIN brought its community together in Paris for a special evening of conversation, discovery, and reflection. โœจ

The evening opened with ADWIN co-founders @elisabethmoreno.1 , @ga_mb , and @pressd sharing more about our vision and the work we are building to create spaces where African and African-descendant women can connect, be represented, and grow together.

Then came a very special part of the evening: the screening of Declarations: Black Americans and the Revolutionary War, directed by Stacey L. Holman.

The documentary brings to light the often-overlooked stories of Black Americans who fought both for and against a revolution proclaimed in the name of liberty, even as slavery endured.

George-Axelle introduced Stacey and set the stage for the screening, highlighting the documentaryโ€™s particular resonance as the United States commemorates 250 years since its independence. She then facilitated an engaging conversation with Stacey and the ADWIN community, exploring the stories brought to light by the film and the importance of preserving and passing them on as part of our collective memory.

A meaningful evening that truly embodied the spirit of WinHeritage: learning, remembering, sharing, and passing our history forward.

A special thank you to Stacey L. Holman for sharing her work, research, and perspective with us; to our three co-founders for being together for this special occasion; and to everyone who joined us, asked questions, exchanged ideas, and connected throughout the evening. ๐Ÿ’œ

Warmest congratulations to ADWINโ€™s co-founder, George-Axelle Broussillon Matschinga @ga_mb , on the remarkable launch of ๐™‡โ€™๐™€๐™ฃ๐™˜๐™ฎ๐™˜๐™ก๐™ค๐™ฅ๐™šฬ๐™™๐™ž๐™š ๐™™๐™š ๐™กโ€™๐™„๐™ฃ๐™˜๐™ก๐™ช๐™จ๐™ž๐™ค๐™ฃ! โœจ๐Ÿ‘

On Thursday, September 17, at Le Visionnaire in Paris, ๐™‡โ€™๐™€๐™ฃ๐™˜๐™ฎ๐™˜๐™ก๐™ค๐™ฅ๐™šฬ๐™™๐™ž๐™š ๐™™๐™š ๐™กโ€™๐™„๐™ฃ๐™˜๐™ก๐™ช๐™จ๐™ž๐™ค๐™ฃ was officially launched โ€” an ambitious collective work she co-initiated and brought to life in her personal capacity with tremendous dedication and conviction.

This extraordinary undertaking brought together diverse perspectives to look back on more than 20 years of diversity and inclusion management in France and more than 60 years in the United States โ€” and, above all, to reflect on the field and its future.

After co-initiating ๐™‡โ€™๐™€๐™ฃ๐™˜๐™ฎ๐™˜๐™ก๐™ค๐™ฅ๐™šฬ๐™™๐™ž๐™š ๐™™๐™š๐™จ ๐˜ฟ๐™ž๐™ซ๐™š๐™ง๐™จ๐™ž๐™ฉ๐™šฬ๐™จ with Jean-Claude Le Grand and Jean-Marie Peretti in 2012, George-Axelle brought together 104 researchers and practitioners from both sides of the Atlantic for this new edited volume, creating a unique space to share experiences, compare perspectives, and develop new thinking about what comes next.

The Paris launch reflected that ambition, with rich conversations among French and American speakers moderated by journalist Thomas Sotto, and the presence and remarks of Madame Aurore Bergeฬ, French Minister for Equality between Women and Men and for the Fight against Discriminations, as well as contributions from Yazid Sabeg and the Honorable Dr. @Sesha Joi Moon.

Congratulations again, George-Axelle, on bringing this ambitious project to fruition, convening so many voices and areas of expertise around a shared purpose, and continuing, after so many years, to advance both thinking and action around inclusion internationally, particularly in France and the United States.

A remarkable achievement and another important milestone in your longstanding commitment to inclusion for all. โœจ

You never really know what the future has in store for you. โœจ

The version of you today may have no idea what she is capable of becoming tomorrow.

A new opportunity, one bold decision, one connection or simply choosing to keep going can change everything.

So keep believing in what youโ€™re building โ€” even when the results arenโ€™t visible yet. ๐Ÿ’œ

At ADWIN, we believe every woman deserves the space, support and confidence to imagine bigger for herself.

Your story is still being written.

We were proud to see ADWIN Co-Founder Prescillia Avenel @pressd take part in Stage Africa at @aimcongress 2026 in Dubai. ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ช

Prescillia opened โ€œThe Narrative Frontier: Media, Data Sovereignty & Re-shaping the African Storyโ€ as keynote speaker before joining the panel discussion.

She also participated in The Royal Session: โ€œUnlocking Strategic Partnerships through Monarchy for Africaโ€, alongside H.R.M. @oloriatuwatseiii and had the opportunity to briefly introduce ADWIN and the work we are building around access, networks and opportunities for African and Afro-descendant women.

Another highlight was The She-Economy, where H.R.M. Olori Atuwatse III shared three clear calls to action for investing in women:

โ†’ Build the right capital structures so women can access and deploy investment.
โ†’ Back women with patient capital, giving their businesses the time and space to scale.
โ†’ Measure progress, because what we donโ€™t measure, we cannot improve or hold ourselves accountable for.

From narrative ownership to investment and strategic partnerships, these conversations all point to the same need: creating real access to opportunity.

A meaningful moment for ADWIN โ€” and for the conversations shaping Africaโ€™s future.
