We’re excited to soft launch Æffect 2025: The Journal of Innovation Management!  
Æffect 2025 explores innovation as both affect — the impulses and relationships that spark change — and effect — the transformation that follows. 
This year’s theme: Emergence. Innovation as something living, interconnected, complex, unexpected, and always demanding responsibility, ethics, and care.

Through collective inquiry, four pathways surfaced: 🔹Transform Through Art & Culture
🔹Reimagine Business Through Design 🔹Think Earth Systems 🔹Meet Emerging Technology 
The issue opens with a conversation between Course Leaders Jamie Brassett and Mo-Ling Chui, “From Philosophy to Practice,” alongside contributions from MAIM students, faculty, and innovation thinkers across disciplines.
We also present the MAIM 2025 Index of Innovation — a collective glossary shaped over two years of research, projects, and lived experience. First shown as an interactive installation at our June 2025 Showcase, it now lives inside the journal as a snapshot of an ever-evolving field.
 Thank you to all our dedicated staff and amazing MAIM class of 2025 for all your hard work, vision, collaboration, creativity and motivation.

Today is #RandomActsofKindnessDay. There are a lot of buzzwords that get thrown around in the community of innovation, and today reminds us at Æffect that at its core, truly great innovation is about extending kindness into the world: to an organisation, to a local community, to our planetary ecosystems, or simply to yourself as a change-maker.

In a gradient, there is a gradual blending from one colour to another. The progression creates an illusion of depth, proximity and distance - to the point where it is almost imperceptible where one tone ends and other begins.

What if we - as individuals, communities and as a species - approached and accepted change in this way?
