Meet Vani, VP of Brand Strategy & Digital Communication and Co-founder of ALCOMS ⚡

Fourth-year Computer Science and Business student at Algoma University, recipient of a prestigious business research award, and full-stack development intern working to strengthen the security of modern LMS. She has also been working on the intersection of blockchain, artificial intelligence, and quantum technology to build more secure systems for the future.

Driven by her belief in making a difference, she co-founded ALCOMS alongside her team to turn ambitious ideas into real opportunities for students.

"Step outside your comfort zone, challenge the obvious, and think beyond the box, that's how you make a difference. And hey, don't forget to have a whole lot of fun along the way!"

Meet Vidhi, VP of Central Operations and Governance at ALCOMS ⚡

Computer Science student at Algoma, researcher in quantum key distribution, and startup co-founder. She runs event planning, operations and governance for ALCOMS, which means every room, meal and schedule at ThunderHacks went through her first.

“Most of a hackathon happens before anyone shows up, from sponsors and rooms to food and shirts. Seeing all of it come together across two campuses this time is the part I’m proudest of.

My advice for the week: come for the prizes, stay for the people.”

Meet Minhaj, President and Co-founder of ALCOMS ⚡

Final-year Computer Science student at Algoma, researcher in mixed reality and quantum computing, and startup founder.

He co-founded ALCOMS to give computing students at Algoma a place to build things together, and ThunderHacks came out of that.

"The first ThunderHacks was one campus and a lot of guessing. Seeing it come back across Brampton and Sault Ste. Marie with sponsors like OLG behind it is the part I'm proudest of. My only advice for the week: build something you would use yourself."
